High Cliff State Park features a marina with over 100 slips available for rent, so bring your boat for water fun on Lake Winnebago. Food and supplies are available through the marina’s concession house. The marina is within walking distance of a golf course, biking trails, restaurant, and campgrounds. Hikers can enjoy trails of varying degrees of difficulty. All trails are looped, and hikers are advised to practice caution when traversing the steep cliffs. Hikers that make it to the top of the cliff can view far off into the distance, catching glimpses of Oshkosh and Appleton. If you climb the 40-foot observation tower, you can see parts of the cities of Menasha, Neenah, and Kaukauna.

Anglers camping at High Cliff State Park will love fishing at Butterfly Pond and Lake Winnebago. Expect to find largemouth bass and panfish in Butterfly Pond. Lake Winnebago is home to perch, walleye, and white bass. Don't forget to pick up a Wisconsin state fishing license before casting your line. You can also borrow fishing gear from the park office.

Hunting and trapping are permitted at High Cliff State Park in designated areas and only during certain times. The only gun hunting allowed is during the annual deer hunt. In the winter, select trails in the park welcome skiers, snowshoers, and snowmobilers. Snowshoers must steer clear of the groomed ski trails. In the unlikely event that the High Cliff State Park RV campgrounds are full, you may want to try the Hickory Oaks Campground in Oshkosh. The campgrounds offer full hookups with 20, 30, and 50-amp service. However, some campsites don't offer electric hookups. A laundry room is available for guests, as well as restrooms, showers, and a dump station.

The Apple Creek Campground in De Pere is another great choice for those wanting to camp in an RV near High Cliff State Park. The campground is about a 30-minute drive from High Cliff State Park. Electric and water hookups are provided. Each campsite has a campfire ring, picnic table, and gravel pad.

While camping at High Cliff State Park, make a quick trip over to Oshkosh, located on the opposite side of Lake Winnebago, to check out the EAA Aviation Museum. If you happen to be visiting during their annual AirVenture, you'll be in for a treat. During this week-long festival, visitors can view all the show planes, including seaplanes, warbirds, aerobatics, vintage planes, and home-built planes. Catch an opening night concert or a nightly movie showing in the EAA Fly-In Theater. The museum also showcases thousands of artifacts.

Head northeast of the park to Appleton and stop into the History Museum at the Castle. This museum houses some of the artifacts of Appleton native and renowned magician, Harry Houdini. Hands-on activities which allow you to attempt some of Houdini's most famous tricks are available for people of all ages. You can also view eight stained glass window panels that tell the story of the Fox Cities. These panels were crafted by a local artist named Thomas Dietrich in the 1970s.

If you need to top up the gas tank, the town of Sherwood is your closest option near High Cliff State Park. Once you've seen everything you want to see in Calumet County, hit I-41 in Oshkosh or Appleton to continue your road trip through the Badger State.
