Getting Outdoors
One of the best attractions at Mirror Lake State Park is its hiking and cross-country trails, which provide a prime place for watching wildlife. Nearly 20 miles of scenic trails, including an accessible path for people with disabilities, offer fun for hikers of all skill levels. Located in the northwest corner of the park is Mirror Lake Pine Oak Forest, a natural habitat for many different species, including raccoons, bats, chipmunks, beavers, coyotes, and more.Many RV campers at Mirror Lake State Park simply enjoy lounging on the beach. The park's large swimming area features shallow waters, perfect for families with young children or inexperienced swimmers. Swim at your own risk, however; no lifeguards are on duty here. After playing in the water, why not enjoy a packed lunch at the picnic area adjacent to the swimming beach?Kayaking and canoeing are also popular attractions for visitors. The calm, no-wake lake provides a relaxing and easy experience among the surrounding rocky overhangs and cliffs. If you don't have your own kayak, you'll find rental services near the boat ramp.
Camping at Mirror Lake State Park
Mirror Lake State Park offers more than 150 campsites across three campgrounds. Cliffwood Campground caters to RV campers with roughly 30 electric sites. Some sites at Sandstone Ridge Campground also provide electric hookups. Bluewater Bay Campground is primitive but features a volleyball court and playground.Each campsite comes with a fire ring and a picnic table. Seasonal showers and flush toilets are available for tent and RV campers at Mirror Lake State Park. Leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome in the campgrounds.Both first-come, first-served and reservable sites are available at Mirror Lake State Park's campgrounds. Only Sandstone Ridge is open year-round. The rest of the campgrounds close from November to May. Aside from the basic campsites, the beautiful Cabin in the Woods offers a comfortable camping option in the Cliffwood Campground.
Exploring the Area
While you're in Baraboo, stop by the Circus World Museum. The Ringling Brothers lived in Baraboo, where they started their world-famous circus touring enterprise. The museum hosts daily circus performances and displays circus artifacts dating back to the late 19th century.The most well-known tourist destination in Sauk County is Wisconsin Dells, home to water and theme parks across the Wisconsin River. Attractions in Wisconsin Dells include Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park, as well as golf courses, zoos, and camping sites. Rent an RV in Wisconsin Dells to experience everything this fun-filled area has to offer.Only 11 minutes from Mirror Lake lies Rocky Arbor State Park. Created to protect the natural sandstone, this park is home to stunning natural rock formations and scenic wetlands. Aside from the trails, the park offers picnic areas, playgrounds, hunting and trapping in season, and winter sports such as snowshoeing and skiing. Camping is available seasonally. The whole family could gladly camp in an RV here or near the Reedsburg area.Also near Mirror Lake, just under 30 minutes away, is Wisconsin's most popular state park. Devil's Lake State Park offers more than 9,000 acres of scenery, endless activities, and over 400 campsites. Quartzite Campground is an excellent option for RV camping because it's spacious and open for winter camping. Keep this in mind if you're passing through, as you'll likely want to see all of the beauty surrounding Devil's Lake while you're in the area.When your camping trip at Mirror Lake State Park has run its course, hit I-90, just minutes from the park, to restock and refuel your rental RV. Camper was delivered to our farm and parked here for overflow houseguests here for Xmas. Worked great. Camper was clean and perfect for two adults and three young kids. Steve, our contact person, was easy to contact and very responsive. Highly recommend.
