The Great Outdoors

When you camp at Pike Lake Campground, you'll have access to several lakes and parks which afford a plethora of great activities. Van Riper State Park is one of the most popular parks in the region and consists of over 1,000 acres of forests along the Peshekee River and Michigamme Lake. The park covers over a mile and a half of shoreline, which includes sandy beaches, ideal for swimming, boating, and fishing. The lake's water is fairly warm and makes for a much better swimming spot compared to the frigid temperatures of Lake Superior. If you're looking for some excitement, Van Riper State Park has a waterpark, complete with obstacle courses, slides, and trampolines. When renting an RV in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, you'll want to visit Lake Superior. Presque Isle Park is an excellent place to experience this Great Lake, with over 300 acres of marshes, forests, and beaches to explore. This park is located on a peninsula, meaning you'll be surrounded by stunning views of the lake. A trail system loops around the edge of the peninsula, and during your hike, keep an eye out for local wildlife, including white-tailed deer, Canada geese, and raccoons. Presque Isle Park is also great for fishing, and anglers can expect to catch a variety of trout and whitefish at the lake.Wagner Falls Scenic Site is well worth a trip if you're looking to see some of the best natural sights in northern Michigan. This stunning area features dense pine forests surrounding the breathtaking Wagner Falls found along the Anna River. This picturesque waterfall can be reached by following a half-mile-long trail, making this the perfect place to visit if you're looking for a relaxing stroll. At the end of the trail is an observation deck overlooking the falls, where you can make the most of this sublime location.

Exploring the City

While there aren't many big cities in this region of Michigan, Gwinn campers can access some cozy cities with quaint local attractions. Marquette is well worth visiting and has some fascinating history, including the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse. This lighthouse was first built in the 1850s and has been an important part of the development of a region's mining community and Lake Superior as a whole ever since. Visitors can tour the lighthouse while seeing artifacts relating to the lighthouse's history. If you're looking for something to keep the kids entertained during your visit to Marquette, consider stopping by the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum. This hands-on museum aims to teach children about science, history, and the local area. There are some exhibits kids will love, including a display where kids can dig for fossils, operate a train, and learn about the inner working of the human body. This museum is an excellent example of learning while playing and is a must-visit for campers with kids.Alternatively, you may want to see some of Marquette's culture. The De Vos Art Museum features a collection of over 1,500 sculptures, prints, paintings, and more, with some excellent local and international artists on display. The museum also has temporary exhibits, so it's worth checking what is on display before you visit.

Find the perfect RV for Pike Lake Campground

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
