On the edge of Lake Michigan in western Michigan, Warren Dunes State Park is an excellent place to camp in an RV. The park is located close to the Indiana-Michigan state line, within 90 minutes' drive of Chicago.Rent an RV near Sawyer, and you can settle into one of the campsites at Warren Dunes Campground. Surrounded by lush woodlands and within proximity to the beach, the campsites can accommodate tents and RVs and come with electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire rings. Some sites offer sewer connections, too. Showers and restrooms are located in each campground loop as well.When you camp at Warren Dunes Campground, there is much more to do than simply staying the night. A short walk through towering sand dunes is all it takes to get to the splendid beaches of Lake Michigan, where swimming, fishing, and kayaking are common pastimes. Bring a picnic lunch, and you can while away a day at the vast beach, building sandcastles and exploring the sprawling shoreline. The Great Outdoors

You’ll never have a dull moment while camping near Lake Michigan, with dozens of immaculate state parks and lakefront recreation areas to keep you busy. Warren Dunes State Park is one of many excellent natural areas where you can see nature, swim, hike, hunt, fish, and camp out under the stars. The park is known for its massive sand dune ecosystem, with some of the dunes reaching over 250 feet in elevation. Unbelievable views of the water and sunsets make this an excellent place to hike, camp, and explore.Grand Mere State Park is just up the road along Interstate 94, making it easy to reach with your RV rental. Here you can also see large, protected sand dune ecosystems with migratory birds and other amazing animal species. This National Natural Landmark has three ancient inland lakes and other neat geological features to see while hiking around the forest.Fort Custer Recreation Area is by Kalamazoo. It's another nice place to spend a night or two while exploring southern Michigan. This 3,000-acre nature park is a converted military training area, now serving as the area’s best recreation hub. Sprawling oak barrens, large lakes, and peaceful camping areas are part of the fun at this scenic park. You can play disc golf, observe local wildlife, go camping, mountain bike, kayak, go fishing, or shop at the convenient camp stores on site.Just over the border in northern Indiana, you can visit the Indiana Dunes National Park for more dazzling views of Lake Michigan. Protected wildlife species, historical sites, quaint camping areas, and lavish beaches await when you visit this waterfront recreation area. If you'd like to take the Sawyer motorhome rental out on the open road, you can head to the various national parks, forests, and lakeshores in northern Michigan.

City Sightseeing

Warren Dunes Campground is close to several cities and major metropolitan areas, so going sightseeing is easy. Saint Joseph is the seat of Berrien County and a hub for commerce and attractions in the area. Restaurants and shops are plentiful here, and Silver Beach County Park features a lovely stretch of shore with shops, picnic areas, splash pads, art installations, and the famous Silver Beach Carousel. Since 1910, this fantastic work of art has been entertaining visitors.The Saint Joseph North Pier Inner Lighthouse is another splendid feature of the region, with picture-perfect landscapes, rocky beaches, and spectacular views from the top of the tower. A catwalk connects the lighthouse to the shore, allowing visitors access to unique vantage points of the coastline and lighthouse.Several other attractions worth noting can be found around the small town, too. The Krasl Art Center has a whole host of art pieces created by world-renowned artists from all over the globe. The Curious Kids’ Museum is a fabulous spot to take children, equal parts educational and fun. Children can learn about the solar system, volcanoes, plate tectonics, and other natural phenomena at this enchanting museum while meeting and playing with other kids.The vast waters of Lake Michigan provide a stunning backdrop when you camp at Warren Dunes Campground. What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
