The campground is a 90-minute drive from Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a three-hour drive from Denver, Colorado. The Great Outdoors

There are several outdoor attractions just a short drive away from Cabela's. The Pawnee National Grassland is southwest of Sidney across the Colorado border. This preserved grassland area has stunning buttes worth bringing your camera for, and hiking trails of varying difficulty levels. It is also an extremely well-known area for bird watching, and you will encounter many different species of birds as you explore the area.To the east of the city, Lake Mcconaughy State Recreation Area provides opportunities for water sports. It is a very popular destination for boating and swimming and has clean, sandy beaches and over 100 miles of shoreline. Fishing is also available in the lake, with three fishing stations and several boat ramps as well. Walleye, catfish, pike, and bass are just a few of the species that live in the lake. For those who enjoy hunting, the Clear Creek State Waterfowl Management Area is located just west of the lake.In the town of Sidney, Legion Park is a beautiful green space with water features. It's an ideal place to spend time outside on a nice day, particularly if you have kids. From the park, you can access the Deadwood walking and biking trail. It is roughly four and a half miles long and runs east to west through the city. The rolling hills and bluffs in the area make it ideal terrain for a gentle bike ride or stroll. There are several restaurants to choose from near Cabela's as well as on Lincoln Highway, the town's main street. Some options include Chinese and Italian food, as well as classic American diners and steakhouses.There are some interesting attractions worth exploring in town too. The Fort Sidney Complex celebrates the town's history as a military outpost. You can tour the commander and officer quarters as well as the powder house to see what life was like in town during the 19th century. Another attraction to visit is the Living Memorial Gardens in Legion Park. The gardens are housed in a re-purposed 1940's swimming pool and pays tribute to the history of the town and the people who have lived there. For those who enjoy shotguns or archery, the Sidney Shooting Range is worth a visit as well. There is also a local golf course where you can enjoy the beautiful rolling terrain of the area.An easy day trip to take when RV camping at Cabela's RV Campground is to Cheyenne, the capital of Wyoming. Cheyenne was an important city in the development of the western United States, and you'll find historical attractions that celebrate that part of the city's history. The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, Wyoming State Museum, and Cheyenne Depot Museum each explore different parts of the area's history.The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is also worth a visit if you are visiting the city on a hot day.
