Letchworth State Park is also the resting place of Mary Jemison, who has quite an extraordinary story. In 1758, French soldiers captured Jemison and some of her family members. Jemison, later nicknamed “The Old White Woman of the Genesee,” was then sold to a Seneca tribe and lived much of her life with them. Campers at Letchworth State Park have the opportunity to learn all about her life while they're here.

When your Letchworth State Park adventure has run its course, you’ll find gas stations on all sides of the park, in Perry, near Silver Lake, and down Mt. Morris Road. You’ll also find various restaurants in the near vicinity of these gas stations, including pizzerias, Chinese restaurants, and burger joints. General stores are also available in Perry.
