One of the easiest things to do while in Oregon is finding a nature park or recreation area to visit. This outdoor-friendly state is full of state parks and beaches on the Pacific Coast, including Whalen Island County Park. Sand Lake Recreation Area is directly across the lake from Whalen Island County Campground, and easy to get to with your campervan rental. There are thousands of acres of sand dunes to hike or ride ATVs, with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. Hiking, fishing, swimming, and kayaking are other popular pastimes at Sand Lake Recreation Area.Cape Lookout State Park is found several miles north of the campsites at Whalen Island County Campground, occupying a sliver of land between Netarts Bay and the ocean. Magical sunsets and sunrises over the water help establish the park as a special place to visit, and it has some extremely tranquil hiking paths overlooking the sea. Bob Straub State Park is not far from Pacific City, home to towering sand dunes, much like Sand Lake Recreation Area. Although Whalen Island County Campground is not in a town or city, there are some interesting options to seek out when looking for museums or landmarks in the area. Tillamook County is a wonderful place to explore with a motorhome rental, with lots to see and do. Up in Tillamook, there are shopping areas, restaurants, and historic buildings, among other things, and some great museums to visit on rainy days. Tillamook County Pioneer Museum is a fantastic resource for historians and curious travelers, thanks to its genealogical records and a vast archive of historical artifacts. You can learn about the native people of coastal Oregon and the first pioneers to make it out west during your visit.Also in Tillamook, the Tillamook Air Museum pays homage to the aviation industry. This converted World War II blimp hangar is massive, with historic aircraft, old weaponry, uniforms, and other battle-used items from several different conflicts in American history. You can see fighter jets, bombers, and blimps at this wonderful museum in the downtown area.The Cape Meares Lighthouse is a dazzling and historical landmark with unbeatable views of the ocean off of Cape Meares. All it takes is a half-mile of walking to reach the lighthouse, high atop the rocky cliffs overlooking the water. What type of RV should I choose?
Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?
Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.
How does check-in work?
Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
