Buttercup Woodlands Campground is located just outside of Butler Township in western Pennsylvania. The campground is a short 15-minute drive from the town center and is along the main road with plenty of local amenities for your convenience. Pittsburgh is less than an hour's drive away, making it an easy day trip destination. Surrounded by a forested area, Buttercup Woodlands Campground provides a private, secluded camping atmosphere.

Campsites at Buttercup Woodlands Campground have full hookups for your comfort and convenience, and there are a laundromat and indoor bathhouse too. The camp store stocks ice, snacks, and other camping essentials you may need while traveling. The outdoor area has fire rings and picnic tables where you can enjoy a cookout. Additional amenities include a swimming pool, a basketball court, and a playground to keep you and your family entertained. Indoors, there is a recreation and dance hall where the campground hosts local entertainment. Be sure to check the event schedule when you arrive at the campground to see what’s happening during your stay.

The Great Outdoors

There are lots of fun outdoor activities to enjoy when you camp in an RV at Buttercup Woodlands Campground. Northwest of the campground, you can access Lake Arthur and Moraine State Park. Lake Arthur is a very popular place to go boating, and motorized boats up to 20 HP are allowed on the water. Sailing is particularly popular here, and there are marinas with docks and fueling stations for your boat. Local organizations even host sailing races here. Those feeling more daring can also go windsurfing with a launch permit.

For a more relaxing experience out on the water, you can go fishing. There are many species of fish that are native to the lake, but the park also stocks a number of additional species. You can expect to find largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, walleye, and muskellunge. You can also go ice fishing here in the winter. During the summer, the lake is open for swimming. There are two swimming beaches at the state park, one on the north shore of the lake and the other on the south coast of the lake. The beach on the south shore also has a sand volleyball court.

Moraine State Park also has an extensive network of trails for hiking while you're motorhome camping near Butler Township, PA. There are scenic, easy loops running around the lake and through the woods, as well as more challenging options with hilly terrain. Some trails are open for cross-country skiing in the winter, and there are also some trails where horseback riding is permitted. There is also a separate system of trails for biking. There are seven miles of paved pathways, as well as a more extensive network for mountain biking.
