Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina, is just an hour's drive south of the campground. The city has lots of fun things to do and see, including the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Discovery Place Science museum, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Outside of the city, you can visit historic Southern plantations, including the Rosedale Plantation and the Latta Plantation. Sports fans may want to catch a game of one of Charlotte's many professional sports teams, including the Panthers and the Hornets. The NoDa (North Davidson) neighborhood is home to many breweries, art galleries, and boutiques that attract a young, trendy crowd.Another city to explore when you camp in an RV at VanHoy Farms Family Campground is Winston-Salem. This is a smaller city, but it's full of rich history to explore. The Old Salem Museum is a preserved town from the 18th century, and Historic Bethabara Park is another living history museum from approximately the same time period. The Reynolda House Museum of American Art showcases artwork from colonial times to the present, while the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art focuses on a more modern selection.
