The Great Outdoors

When you're camping at Wildwood Acres Family Campground, finding natural beauty is as simple as heading over to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Nestled in between major cities, this 32,000-acre spread of land features waterfalls and diverse terrain. Hike over 125 miles of trails around farmlands, past rolling hills, and through the verdant forests, or hit the river in a canoe. Hop on a scenic train ride to experience the park from a different perspective. The Boston Mill Visitor Center is housed in a general store dating back to 1905. The center provides info on the notable parts of the park.For more rugged wilderness, head to Allegheny National Forest near Sheffield Township, Pennsylvania. This massive forest covers over 500,000 acres of land. There are numerous settings to explore, including woods, farmland, wetlands, and mountains. Hit the trails on foot, a bike, or on horseback, or roar down the off-roading trails in an ATV. Hunting, wildlife watching, and camping are popular pastimes here. During the snowy winter season, visitors can go ice fishing, snowmobiling, and skiing.

Explore the City

When it comes time to leave the comforts of your campsite at Wildwood Acres Campground, the nearby cities are worth visiting. Most offer access to resources and are home to some interesting attractions. Restaurants and gas stations can be found within a few miles of the campground, so it should be easy to restock and refuel the Lisbon rental motorhome. Just a short drive from the campground near East Liverpool, you can spend an afternoon touring the Beaver Creek Wildlife Center. Here you'll find a live honey bee exhibit, hundreds of taxidermied animal displays, and Native American artifacts, among tons of other items. Learn about some of Ohio's resident critters, observe a collection of rocks and minerals, and don't miss the life-sized bald eagle nest.For some more animal-related adventures, head to Wagon Trails Animal Park in Vienna. You wouldn’t expect to find a safari experience in Ohio, but this park offers tours through free-roaming animal habitats. The animals who call this place home hail from all over the world; visitors to this unique park can see zebras, bison, yak, llamas, peacocks, cockatoos, ostriches, and more.Dive into the depths of Lake Erie and other bodies of water when you visit the Greater Cleveland Aquarium in Cleveland. Educate yourself on the marine life of the Great Lakes and tour galleries that will take you well beyond. Some exhibits to check out while you're here include Asia & Indonesia, Tropical Forest, Industry & Habitat, and Coastal Boardwalk. Watch a feeding session, dive into the shark tank, and get up close to the stingrays when you head to this family-friendly attraction.The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is also found within the city. There you can check out the wide world of dinosaurs at the Ultimate Dinosaurs exhibit. The collections at this interesting museum cover topics like botany, archaeology, mineralogy, zoology, paleontology, and more. The Nathan and Fannye Shafran Planetarium & Ralph Mueller Observatory offer visitors access to some epic views of the stars and highlights all sorts of space-related info. What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
