Book an RV in Tarragona and steal away to the Catalonian coastline. This picturesque port city dates back to before the third century when Roman forces seized it from an Iberian tribe, turning it into a center for trade and commerce.

The city has flourished ever since and is still a vital port full of history and culture. RV rentals in Tarragona are great for getting outdoors, too, with several national parks and pristine beaches encircling the city. Tarragona is also a well-connected transport hub, with major cities like Barcelona, Lleida, and Tortosa less than an hour and a half away.

The Great Outdoors

You'll no doubt want to visit one of the white sandy beaches along Tarragona's coastline while you're here. Playa El Miracle is one of Tarragona's most popular beaches and is located just outside the city center. This beach is perfect for topping up your tan and splashing around in the waves, or chilling out with a good book. Various other watersports are possible, and you can pick up a snack or a beverage from one of the many concessions lining the promenade.

There are some beautiful landscapes dotted around Tarragona, and any adventurer will love Reserva Natural Llaberia. This nature reserve covers hundreds of acres of verdant woodlands in the Serra de Llaberia mountains range and is perfect for hikers, with dozens of miles of hiking trails leading past quaint villages, through tranquil forests, and up mountain paths. This park is also great for nature watching, with many species of raptor nesting in the rocky cliffs.

Another stunning park worth visiting when you rent an RV in Tarragona is Muntanyes de Prades. This nature preserve is located in the Prades Mountains and consists of miles of limestone bluffs and forest-covered valleys. The Brugent and Glorieta Rivers run through this region and are great for watersports, including kayaking and fishing. Hiking and nature watching are popular pastimes in the park, with trails that lead past heritage sites and up mountain passages with stunning views. A wide variety of animals live in the park, including the Eurasian pygmy shrew.

Tarragona RV campgrounds are located along the coastline, giving campers the best holiday experience possible. Camping la Unión offers seaside campsites with electrical hookups. Exploring the City

RV rentals in Tarragona are great for discovering Catalonia's Roman history, with several historic sites constructed under Roman rule. Circ Romà is one of the more unusual historic sites and consists of the remains of a Roman chariot racing stadium. The racecourse was thought to have been constructed as early as the first century and still stands in decent condition. Visitors can tour the inside of the stadium, learn what it would have looked like hundreds of years ago, and find out more about chariot racing.

If you're looking to visit one of Tarragona's high-class museums, try the Museum of Modern Art.
