Discover Campbell Cove Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Campbell Cove Lake is located in southeastern Tennessee, just east of Chattanooga near the towns of Ducktown and Turtletown. This picturesque man-made lake was created in the early 1960s and was primarily used as a fishing lake. Campbell Cove Lake lies on the edges of the Cherokee National Forest and has, for a long time, gone unnoticed. This isolation only adds to the charm of the lake. Campbell Cove Lakes location and opportunities for recreation make it an ideal place to take an RV rental. Access to the lake with a rental RV is made even easier with Highway 68 running along its eastern shores. Many RV campgrounds can also be found throughout Polk County, making camping with an RV here a simple task.

Getting Outdoors

Originally constructed as a fishing lake, Campbell Cove Lake has slowly gained a reputation for being a must-fish lake in eastern Tennessee. The lake is home to a wide range of fish species, all with their own unique sporting characteristics. The lake is best known for its bass fish, rock, and largemouth, with many reaching trophy size. There is also an abundant number of bullhead, sunfish, warmouth, bluegill, and common carp here. Whether Campbell Cover Lake campers are fishing from the shoreline or from a boat out on the water, with such a fertile and varied fishery, they will rarely be unsuccessful here.

Camping At Campbell Cove Lake

Those RV camping at Campbell Cove Lake will have limited choice when it comes to camping directly along the shores of the lake. Campers may be forced to drive a few miles from campsite to lake where ever they choose to camp. ‘Persimmon Creek Campground’ is the closest campground to Campbell Cove Lake and is located ten miles to the east. Full hookups are provided here, including 20, 30 amp electric, water, and sewer hookup. Facilities include a dump station, laundrette, and flushing toilets. Many pull-thru sites are located at Persimmon Creek Campground, so all sizes of rigs are welcome here.

Exploring The Area

The local town of Ducktown is only a few miles from the shores of Campbell Cove Lake and is home to the ‘Ducktown Basin Museum.' This museum is on the site of the old ‘Burra Burra Mine,' a vast copper mine that was key to the economic success of eastern Tennesee. The museum showcases the history of the mine and its effect on the people and culture of Tennesee. There are also sixteen original structures located on this site, all of which give visitors a better understanding of this industry and how it came to represent the ‘Copper Basin’ area of the United States. This is a must-see when in the Polk County area.
