The Great Outdoors

Kingsville campers looking to explore the serene barrier islands along the coast should visit Mustang Island State Park. This 4,000-acre park consists mainly of sandy beaches, with over five miles of coastline to discover. These beaches are ideal for topping up your tan and taking a saltwater dip, and if you're feeling adventurous, grab a kayak and follow the paddling trail up to Corpus Christi Bay. Explore more of the islands along the 20 miles of trails within the park; be on the lookout for the region's wildlife, with over 400 bird species frequenting the park. The park is also great for fishing, and anglers can expect to find over 600 different species inhabiting the Corpus Christi Bay.Another popular state park worth visiting along Texas's shoreline is Goose Island State Park. This 300-acre park consists of beaches and coastal wetlands overlooking St. Charles and Aransas bays. The park is superb for fishing, with a 1,600-foot-long fishing pier, where anglers can catch speckled trout, red drum, and flounder. The pier also features boat ramps suitable for kayaks and canoes. Due to the park's diverse environment, wildlife is abundant, with over 300 different species of birds living here, including the endangered whooping crane. If you get a chance, you should also stop by The Big Tree; a coastal oak thought to be one of the largest living oak trees in the country.Head inland and visit one of the tranquil lakes in South Texas. Lake Corpus Christi State Park features some of the last brush environments in the region, and is exceptional for watersports, thanks to the lake's calm waters. Swimming, paddling, and boating are favorite pastimes, and visitors can rent kayaks and canoes from the park office. The 18,000-acre lake is also an excellent fishing spot, with anglers commonly reeling in crappie, bluegill, and a variety of catfish. There's also a 400-foot-long fishing pier for easy access to deeper waters.

Exploring the City

If you're looking to make the most of your Kingsville motorhome rental, you'll want to plan a trip to Corpus Christi. It's one of the biggest cities along the Texas Gulf Coast and features an array of cultural and historical sights. If you want to learn more about the city's naval history, visit the USS Lexington. This retired aircraft carrier was built for use during World War II and now remains as a museum and monument. Visitors can tour the boat, learn more about the crew, and experience the flight deck. This ship also hosts several attractions, including a 4D cinema, escape rooms, and much more. There are some fantastic museums in Corpus Christi, and one of the best is The Art Museum of South Texas. This art museum features nearly 2,000 pieces of art with a variety of different mediums, ranging from large installations to photographs. The museum also contains a range of artifacts dating to the pre-Columbian period, including pottery and sculptures. This museum is a great way to learn about local artistic tastes, as well as seeing some local history. If you're looking to plan an excursion the whole family will love, consider the Texas State Aquarium. This massive aquarium features hundreds of marine creatures, both local and exotic, including Port Jackson sharks, moon jellies, and giant Pacific octopi. The aquarium also offers several shows, where you can watch dolphins perform tricks, see birds of prey fly overhead, and feed stingrays.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
