One of the easiest parks to access when you're RV camping at San Antonio KOA is the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System. This greenway actually starts on the west side of the KOA, making it very easy to access. The greenway provides a paved 2.3-mile-long trail that will take you through a forested hardwood area that runs adjacent to the Salado Creek. This creek is viewable from the path which offers sublime riverside scenery. A lovely trail for a quick hike, feel free to bring along your dog for a much-needed walk.Or, you might prefer to explore a bigger park when you book an RV in Bexar County, in which case you should plan a visit to theGovernment Canyon State Natural Area. This park covers over 12,000 acres of woodlands and prairies and is an excellent place for hiking, with over 40 miles of trails available. Nature watching is popular due to abundant wildlife, including endangered golden-cheeked warblers, javelinas, and numerous species of butterfly. One unique feature of the park is the dinosaur footprints open to public viewing, likely made by Acro­can­thosaurus and Sauro­po­sei­don roughly 100 million years ago.Another park well worth visiting when you rent a travel trailer near San Antonio KOA is Guadalupe River State Park. One of the best locations nearby for water sports, Guadalupe River State Park consists of four miles of riverside woodland, ideal for swimming, kayaking, or canoeing. Fishing is also popular, and this park uniquely contains a paddling trail where visitors can kayak or canoe down a marked five-mile trail. Nature watching is another popular activity, with bobcats, armadillo, and white-tailed deer inhabiting the region.

Exploring the City

San Antonio is one of the largest cities in South Texas and offers plenty to do. A visit to San Antonio wouldn't be the same without visiting the legendary Alamo. This fort is an essential part of American history and is open to the public. The fort is over 300 years and was originally a Spanish mission. Visitors can tour the fort via a guided tour or through an audio tour if you'd prefer to take your time exploring. The Alamo also contains exhibits and artifacts which highlight its importance in American history.One of the best family-friendly activities to consider when renting a campervan in San Antonio is Six Flags Fiesta. This theme park contains a massive variety of rides, from rollercoasters based on comic book characters to old-school Ferris wheels. If you feel it's too hot to spend the day at a theme park, Six Flags Fiesta also offers a water park, the ideal way to cool off while still getting your adrenaline pumping.One of the most unique and thrilling attractions in San Antonio are the Natural Bridge Caverns. This natural cave system is full of rock formations which are sure to astound and amaze. On the surface, there's the Canopy Challenge; an assault course suspended 60 feet above the ground which is not for the faint-hearted. Another astounding feature is the Bracken Bat Flight. Bracken Cave has one of the largest bat colonies on the planet, and during the evening, they vacate the cave, giving visitors an amazing aerial display.
