The Great Outdoors

White Oak Mountain Wildlife Management Area is located approximately 20 minutes' drive north of the campground. This almost 3,000-acre park is covered in pine and oak forest, with an elevated landscape. There are ponds and streams within the park that are perfect for fishing. It's one of the closest hunting areas when you are motorhome camping at Paradise Lake and Campground. Here you can also try trapping, horseback riding, hiking, or primitive camping. This beautiful park is great for bird and wildlife watching and photography too.Only about an hour's drive north of your Keeling campground, you will find the gorgeous Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Nestled on the shore of the second largest lake in the state, here you can see beautiful views, enjoy picnicking and camping, or try some water sports. There are boat docks and a beautiful beach, and you can walk and hike on miles of trails surrounding the lake and through the park. In addition to swimming, you can also go fishing on the shore or with a boat. The park has a visitor center where you can learn about this natural area, and also an amphitheater where interesting events and activities are organized throughout the summer.George Washington and Jefferson National Forest is located less than three hours' drive north of Paradise Lake and Campground and is one of the most important natural areas in the state. Stretching along the Appalachian Mountains, this natural area covers about 1.6 million acres of land and is one of the biggest forests in the eastern United States. Offering some of the most wonderful views of the whole region, this forest is ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, wildlife watching, hunting, and so much more. The forest is home to over 60 species of mammals, 100 species of fish, 200 species of birds, and more. There are nearly 2,000 miles of hiking trails, including over 300 miles of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and 1,700 miles of open roads, perfect for scenic driving.

Exploring the City

You can visit numerous interesting attractions while RV camping at Paradise Lake and Campground. The AAF Tank Museum is just a few minutes' drive from the campground, and here you can see many restored and preserved tank and cavalry artifacts on display. Learn and explore military history and stories about military service members. Here you can see permanent and temporary exhibits, featuring 120 tank and artillery pieces, 150 machine guns, and over 340 international uniforms.The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History is located in Danville, only about 20 minutes' drive south of Paradise Lake and Campground. The museum preserves and promotes the art and history of the Dan River Region through exhibitions, art classes, and all kinds of events. In addition to gallery exhibitions, here you can also see a Civil War exhibit and learn a lot about local history. The museum also has an auditorium and a children’s “See & Do” room.Another interesting place to see in the area is the Dan Daniel Memorial Park, located on the shore of the Dan River. Take in the beautiful scenery while enjoying recreational activities like walking and picnicking in the most popular park in Danville. While there, you can also visit the Veteran’s Memorial, a 158-foot-long black granite wall. The wall has engraved names of local veterans who died in past wars and conflicts. Every name has an individual brick, and you can see them all while following the circular walkway.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
