Wilderness Campground

West of Fond du Lac, Wilderness Campground is a family-friendly RV park where you can go camping in Marquette County. This spot offers you the chance to enjoy a weekend or weeklong vacation RV camping. The campground has a pool and a lake with lots to do for the kids and plenty of options for you to enjoy near Fond du Lac. For fun, there is a jumping pillow, a skate park, a swimming pond, and outdoor movies. You also have access to WiFi hotspots, free showers, two ponds stocked with fish, and big rig sites. There's also a well-stocked convenience store on-site.Camping options are as varied as the many RV rental options you have. Looking for a full hookup site for your rental RV? They have a lot of options to choose from. Just want water and electricity? No problem, there are sites with those too. If you aren't comfortable backing your campervan rental into a site, that's okay too, as they have pull-throughs that are easy to get into. You can top up your LP gas tanks here and use the dump station to empty your gray and black water tanks. After spending the day fishing, hiking, or on the beach going swimming in the pond, you can run a load of laundry in the on-site laundromat while you enjoy a hot shower.But this is only the beginning; there is so much more to do than spend your entire time here in your rental motorhome. There are plenty of things to do in the campground, such as hiking on the trails or taking part in one of the many planned activities. Or you can head to Fond du Lac, where there is plenty of shopping, lots of restaurants, and, of course, a good measure of nightlife to enjoy. This area was once home to several Native American tribes, including Kickapoo, Mascoutin, Potawatomi, and Winnebago.

Getting Out and About

Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac sits on the shore of Lake Winnebago and has a lighthouse, petting zoo, and an amusement park. Covering 400 acres, the park is the perfect place to bring your entire family. There is something to do here for everyone in the family. There are zip line rides, a playground, boat launch ramps, even fishing platforms that are handicapped accessible. You can take the family for a ride on the miniature train or go around and around on the antique carousel. For those of you who like to golf with a ball or disc, there are several excellent courses in the area that are worth visiting. No matter what you are looking for on your vacation, RV camping at Wilderness Campground is sure to meet and exceed your expectations.If golf is your game, you should plan to spend the day at the golf course in nearby Baraboo. You can play three, nine, 12, or 18 holes, depending on how long you wish to be away from your rental RV. Hone your skills on the practice putting green or hit the practice range that offers more than 30 practice stations. The course is easily walkable, or you can rent a motorized pull-cart or golf cart.Down the road in Plover, you can spend time outside while taking in a history lesson at the Wisconsin Korean War Memorial. The memorial sits on an island in the middle of Lake Pacawa and lists all those who died or continue to be listed as MIA (Missing in Action) from the Korean War. It's a good way to spend a few hours while you are RV camping at Wilderness Campground.

Take in the Local Towns

In nearby Portage, you and your family can visit the World War II History Museum. The museum is packed with a wide array of rare items in more than 55 glass display cases. There is even an original transcript of the infamous Nuremberg trials that took place after the war was over. There are uniforms, equipment, posters, and photographs galore to view before heading back to the RV park.If you have younger children, they are sure to enjoy spending the day at the Children's Museum of Fond du Lac. The museum covers 15,000 square feet indoors and over 10,000 more outside. If you happen to be visiting here with your Montello motorhome rental on the first Friday of the month, be sure to let your kids enjoy creating anything they can imagine using the huge supply of LEGOs.For those of you who can't seem to get enough Christmas, you should plan a visit to the Christmas store in Fond du Lac. Here, they enjoy Christmas every day of the year. Yes, that's right, you can enjoy the festivities 360 days of the year. If it is Christmas related, you can find it here. Don't want to carry it home in your rental RV, no problem, they offer to ship to anywhere in the country! Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
