Joe Stradinger is far from your average joe. In fact, he’s a pretty extraordinary businessman. He’s created and sold a very successful internet-based business and is now the owner and operator of Edge Theory, a social-media marketing company that helps businesses grow by using the right words at the right times.

“Think of us as the Hallmark of social media,” Stradinger says. “We live in a noisy world, and Edge Theory helps people navigate social media by helping them know what to say.”

Needing a break

When you speak with him, it’s pretty obvious that Stradinger is passionate about what he does. Still, everyone needs a break from work sometimes, and Stradinger chose to spend his most recent break camping.

“I grew up renting RVs,” he says. “I just love them, and my girls and I will even go out looking at RVs for fun sometimes on weekends.”

Rentals are great

Stradinger went on to explain the reasons why he chooses to rent rather than buy.

“I’m a big fan of fractional real estate,” he explains. “I’ve owned various properties and have used Airbnb and other sites like it to rent my properties. I was even one of the first users on VRBO.” Having a background in the sharing economy made renting RVs a natural step for Stradinger.

When this camping fan came across Outdoorsy, he was thrilled. He liked the user experience offered by the website. After a quick search, he found the perfect Class C camper in his area and contacted the owner, Sharon Barry, to get the ball rolling.

Amazing user experience

Stradinger says he loved the Outdoorsy communication experience.

“The back and forth between myself and the owner was so easy. I really appreciated the fact that I got email notifications,” he says.

He also truly enjoyed the owner and the RV.

“I’ve owned vacation rentals and I know very well that the sharing economy can be a bit scary because it’s the blind renting to the blind. I think it was easier for me because I had done it before, and I’m glad I chose to do it again,” Stradinger says.

Trip highlights

Initially, he was concerned about driving the large vehicle. However, he soon found it was quite easy to do. Driving was actually one of the family’s favorite parts of their trip.

“Typically when kids say, ‘How much longer do we have?,’ they’re eager to get where they’re going,” Stradinger says. “When my kids asked, they were wishing it would be longer.”

The Stradinger family took their rental RV out for a 3-day weekend and had an absolute blast.

“We went to Pickwick Lake, a huge river that borders Tennessee and Mississippi. We drove the Natchez Trace to get there, and it was beautiful,” he says.

Once they arrived and set up camp, the family enjoyed some good runs, connecting with the friends they traveled with, and spending time connecting as a family.
