Owners of the Week: Hannah Bader and Sam Coody

Originally, Hannah Bader and Sam Coody were looking to be renters. Instead, they ended up being owners, and they don’t regret it for a second. “Sam and I wanted to rent a camper and travel to the California national parks the summer of COVID (he was supposed to be proposing on the trip),” Hannah tells us. “But we weren’t old enough to rent RVs off any of the platforms, so we decided to buy one ourselves so we would get tons of enjoyment out of it.”

Oddly enough, that didn’t go as planned either. “Ultimately, we didn’t go on the road trip,” she explains. Sam did still propose though, and what the couple got out of their RV purchase was much more than they bargained for, as they decided to try their hand at renting

“Originally, we chose to rent our camper so that we could manage the note on it and pay to explore,” says Hannah. “This was the goal when we bought it, but after paying it off in only 13 months, we were definitely hooked on the rental business!

“We got our first Outdoorsy booking last year within a month of listing the camper,” she continues. “At this point, we are grossing close to $50,000 from March through the end of this month. Last year we rented out one 21-foot Jayco, but the demand has been so high that this year we added a 29-foot Grey Wolf, 33-foot Keystone Hideout, 33-foot Grey Wolf, and as of yesterday, a 31-foot Airstream we will be redoing over the winter. We also have a 36-foot consignment Trail Runner we rent out for a family friend!”

Clearly, Sam and Hannah have been very busy running their business. In fact, they’ve been so busy that Sam was able to quit his job as a deputy earlier this summer to run the rental business full-time. That said, the couple still finds time to have fun, and eventually, they even got to make up for that first missed trip.

“This past December we packed up our Jayco and road tripped from Atlanta through Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Amarillo, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and back—all over ten days,” Hannah shares. “We got to see some of the most stunning scenery and stars ever, and woke up at 4 AM to hike to the canyon overlook in Zion for a perfect sunrise. It was a perfect trip, and Sam’s first time that far west!”

With such an amazing trip under their belts, Hannah and Sam are even more eager to help their renters find great adventures. “Our motto at White Oak Camper Rentals is that ‘Your best camping experience starts here’,” Hannah tells us. “We strive to be the most stress-free camping experience for all of our renters, whether they are tailgating, going to a festival, or enjoying a family camping trip.

“If we have the opportunity to give renters an amazing experience—which for many of them is their first time in a camper—then that is a sign of a job well done!”
