This man-made reservoir was designed as flood control protection and rests on the Little Tallahatchie River. The lake is named for the nearby town of Sardis and is easy to locate only a short drive away from metropolitan Memphis, TN. In just an hour, RV campers can be whisked away from the idyllic calm of rural living to the heart of the big city, a drawing card for those who like to mix it up when away on vacation.
Sardis Lake is an extremely popular spot for those who enjoy fishing. Its waters teem with such fish species as crappie and several varieties of bass. The nearby Sardis Lake Marina is a great place to launch your boat out on the water. Fancy some time out on the lake but don't own a boat of your own? Not to worry. Sardis Lake Marina offers rental boats as well as other watersports equipment such as waterskiis, tubes, and wakeboards.
Sardis Lake is well-renowned for its luscious sand beaches. It is also situated near to John W. Kyle State Park, where families can enjoy the on-site attractions such as a swimming pool, a recreation center, and a golf course.

Driving

Travel to Sardis Lake proceeds seamlessly along roads of two-lane construction. Each of the highways is kept in very good condition with most of the route comprised of country lanes. The route is largely direct and flat with road construction seen very infrequently. Keep an eye for animals that periodically wander into the roadway. Traffic typically moves well regardless of the time of year.

Parking

Parking is available via several private lots at Sardis Lake as well as at the nearby marina and the campgrounds.

There is currently no public transportation available to Sardis Lake.

First-come first-served

Clear Creek Campground

Clear Creek Campground offers year-round camping for RV and tenters on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 52 campsites; all equipped with power and some with water.
This campground offers several modern amenities including toilets, showers, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire pits. There is a waste disposal station on the premises.
Nearby John W. Kyle State Park offers many recreational opportunities including a golf course, a swimming pool, and a games and recreation center.

In-Season

Swimming

Sardis Lake is home to miles and miles of pristine sandy coastline, making it a haven for those who love to go to the beach. With such a vast amount of shore to choose from, families can enjoy a piece of the property that feels like their own little slice of paradise.

Swimming is largely unsupervised at this beach; however, nearby John W. Kyle State Park has an outdoor pool where families can take a dip under the watchful eye of a lifeguard. Check the park's website for lifeguard hours.

Water sports

The Sardis Marina which rests outside Sardis Lake itself is a great place for families looking to have some fun out on the water. You can bring along your own powerboat to launch from the docks or paddle out into the lake in your canoe.

Don't own a boat of your own? Not to worry! You can rent a boat or other water sports equipment such as wakeboards, jet skis, and more directly from one of the concession stands at the marina.

Visit to John W. Kyle State Park

Located on the shores of Sardis Lake is John W. Kyle State Park, a recreational hotspot for families visiting the region. Whatever your favorite outdoor activity, you most likely will find it at this great recreational haven.
You can try your hand at a round of golf, take a dip in the on-site pool, or even just go for a leisurely hike on one of the trails found on the grounds. The park is so picturesque you just might feel taking a few photos or just kicking back at one of the picnic tables and enjoying a light lunch or snack.

Fishing

Fishing opportunities abound at Sardis Lake. Whether you choose to fish from the docks at the marina, directly from the shore, or from the comfort of your boat, you're bound to have a great time.
There are many species of fish that make Sardis Lake their home. Some of the most commonly found species include walleye, crappie, and several varieties of bass.
Some of the fishing locales offers fish cleaning stations on the premises. Be sure to check with the officials at the beach of your choice to ensure this is permitted.
A fishing license is required to participate in the sport in any Mississippi body of water.

Hiking

If you enjoy hiking nature trails, Sardis Lake is the place for you! Though most of these hikes are not lengthy, they are all extremely picturesque, making them worth the journey, for sure. Among the most popular trails are the Sandstone Nature Trail, the Sandstone Fitness Trail, and the Clear Springs Natural Trail. All of these hiking paths wander through areas of dense forest with many of them offering stunning views of both the dam and lake.
Along your journey, you may want to stop for photo ops as the scenery is quite breathtaking.
