Algonac Campground

An hour’s drive northeast of Detroit, on the St. Clair River that separates the United States from Canada, Algonac State Park provides visitors a literal front-row seat to passing freighters. If you want to wake up to this bustling riverside view, the park's Riverfront campground is the perfect place to stay. Shaded by some trees but mostly sunny, the Riverfront campground at Algonac State Park allows Marine City campers to mingle with fellow travelers as the sites are more exposed and busier on weekends and holidays. If you'd rather park the RV rental in a more private, spacious and shady campsite with a secluded feel, the Wagon Wheel campground farther back from the river is ideal.

Regardless of where you park your rental RV, you'll get 30 amp electric service, with some 50 amp service in the Riverfront campground. Both campgrounds at Algonac State Park offer strategically placed bathhouses and modern restrooms with hot showers. There's also a dump station servicing all sites. Enjoy a meal on a picnic table under the shade of a tree, or gather ‘round the fire pit to swap campground stories. There's a playground for kids to run around, and horseshoe pits, a grassy volleyball court, and trails through the flower-sprinkled prairie for all ages to enjoy. Alternatively, within the state park, you can explore the cross-country trails on skis, try your hand at the archery range, or cast out a line on the river.
