The Great Outdoors

You’ll have plenty to keep you busy and happy right at the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area with your Waterford camper rental. The 3,700-acre park is the site of the longest beach in the state with just over a half-mile of shoreline. The park also contains ponds, marshes, forests, lakes, and old farm fields with a wide variety of wildlife and native species. Its 11-mile mountain biking trail has been recognized as one of the top trails in the country and one of the most technical trails in the area. There is also a model airplane flying field, a horse stable offering guided and group tours as well as pony rides, a beach house with restrooms and changing areas, and rifle, shotgun, and archery ranges. There is a boat launch, and kayaks are available for rent. Other recreational opportunities here include swimming, hiking, picnicking, hunting and fishing, metal detecting, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Nature programs are held weekly.The Indian Springs Metropark is a great way to experience the great outdoors and a great sense of community with your RV rental near the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area Campground. This park covers over 2,215 acres of meadows, woodlands, and restored prairie and has over 12 miles of trails. The Environmental Discovery Center features an underwater pond viewing area. Other recreational opportunities include an 18-hole golf course, a spray/splash pad, an adventure maze, a rock climbing wall, a playground, picnic areas with tables and grills, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, geocaching, and winter activities such as sledding and cross-country skiing.The Bald Mountain State Recreation Area is comprised of over 4,600 acres of the most rugged terrain and the steepest hills in the area. You can experience and explore here with your Waterford campervan rental. The beach is often considered one of the best in the Detroit area, and the on-site waterpark offers a 25-foot slide, a 20-foot wall, and a challenging course. The area is also home to trout streams, inland lakes, and wild game. There is a boat launch, and boats, kayaks, and paddleboards are available for rent. It is a designated National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum’s collections include the Lincoln Continental in which John F. Kennedy was assassinated, a Stradivarius violin, what is alleged to be Thomas Edison’s last breath, the most powerful steam locomotive ever manufactured, and the Rosa Parks bus. The complex also features Greenfield Village, which is an outdoor living history museum with over one hundred historical buildings, costumed interpreters and reenactors, working farms with animals, and a steam locomotive railroad. You can also enjoy a Ford Rouge Factory Tour and a giant screen theater experience. Special events and programs for all ages are held throughout the year.If you’re looking for big-city attractions and amenities when you rent a camper near the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area Campground, you can head to nearby Detroit for a sophisticated, diverse urban experience. Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
