Rutherford Mountain Campground

RV camp surrounded by mountains cloaked by lush green trees. In all directions, wild woods grow rampant, harboring untamed animals that roam freely underneath the tall, strong branches. Rutherford Mountain Campground is a small, quiet campground with only 16 sites in North Carolina. The sites are spaced out in an open space that is kept groomed. All sites have a panoramic view of the North Carolina mountains. Each site comes with a fire ring, which is a nice feature at the end of a long day of exploring and adventure. Build a crackling campfire and roast s’ mores while watching twinkling stars appear in the night sky.

All campers have access to a salt-water pool, which is said to be more healthy than a typical chlorinated pool. There is also a coin-operated laundry room, and you can make use of the restrooms with private showers should you require it. Those staying overnight have a choice between no, partial, or full hookups.

Lake Lure, NC, which is about 13 miles south of Rutherford Mountain Campground, is the closest town with a handful of restaurants and shops. The town is also known for its annual Lake Lure Arts and Crafts Festival, at which local artists, crafters, and other vendors display their skills. For a greater variety in shopping as well as a hospital with emergency health care, Asheville is about 30 miles west.
