Rome is a beautiful little city with plenty of things to offer to its visitors. It is famous for rare trees that grow all around the downtown area and in public parks. Tourists often go on tours just to see the magnificent tree species and get to know this place better. Speaking of parks, did you know that Rome has a labyrinth? What started as an old amphitheater is now the favorite place for kids to play. A group of volunteers created a small labyrinth by using a total of 5,490 bricks. If you are camping at James H. Floyd State Park with your family, this unusual place is worth a visit. The city is known for its interesting museums. The most visited ones are the Rome Area History Museum and the Clock Tower. The Rome Area History Museum focuses on the development of the city, starting with Native Americans who once lived on this land, to the founding of Rome, the Civil War, and modern times. Standing on one of seven hills, the Clock Tower is the symbol of Rome. This tower was once used for water supply, and it became a museum in 1995. The inside of the Clock Tower is decorated with large murals painted by a local artist named Chuck Smultz. They tell a story of Rome through centuries. The downtown area and Broad Street is the place to be when you want to try some local delicacies. The street is lined with diners, restaurants, and shops selling various curiosities. Broad Street often smells like sweets, thanks to a couple of bakeries located there. Both visitors and locals are very keen on desserts, namely the mouthwatering cupcakes they could purchase in Rome. When you feel it is time to continue your Georgia adventure, make a stop at one of several gas stations within the city limits. Take your rental RV southeast down the I-75 to Atlanta, the capital of the state, and enjoy the outdoors there.
