Kemmerer is a sparsely populated and off-the-beaten-path destination, so it may be a challenge finding a place to park when you rent an RV here. One of the closest campgrounds is Riverside RV and Mobile Home Park on the north side of Kemmerer. It has water and electrical hookups. Foothills Mobile Home and RV Park is a similar option and is also conveniently located just off the US-189. Its sites have electrical and water hookups, and there’s an excellent walking trail to enjoy along the Ham’s Fork River. Ham's Fork Campground is north of the city, nestled in the rolling hills near the Kemmerer Ranger District. Amenities are minimal here, but there are hiking trails and access to the nearby Ham's Fork River. There’s also the Weeping Rock and Tailrace campgrounds, which are a relatively short drive to the east on the Fontenelle Reservoir on the Green River. These could be fantastic destinations for camping with your motorhome rental in Kemmerer if you like to get away from the crowds and spread out a little. There’s plenty of space on the shores of the Green River, but very few amenities, so come prepared for self-sufficiency. The nearest Walmart is almost an hour's drive away in the town of Evanston, near the border with Utah. It could be a good place to park the Kemmerer RV rental if you’re planning on visiting any of the towns to the south.

As you might expect, there are a number of excellent attractions in town related to the fossil discoveries around Kemmerer. The Fossil Country Frontier Museum is one of the best places to learn about these ancient artifacts before heading out to the national monument. Exhibits extend beyond the fossil beds though, branching out to tell the story of Kemmerer and the fascinating residents who have lived there over the years. There are also a couple of fossil galleries in the town where you can pick up souvenirs for yourself or presents for friends and family back home. Finding a good one at these galleries might be a better option than searching for one of your own at the monument, especially if you don’t have an eye for spotting the ancient artifacts among the dirt and dust. Kemmerer was also home to the first of one of America's most famous department store chains, J.C. Penney’s. The J.C. Penney House and Museum is, therefore, a must-see when you choose a camper rental in Kemmerer, where you can learn all about James Cash Penney and how he developed his humble corner store into the shopping mall staple that it became. The original store is just down the street from his home.
