Discover Piedmont RV rentals for memorable road trips
The city of Piedmont, Alabama, is a lovely vacation destination where you can rent an RV and have an absolute dream vacation. Most would not expect Alabama to have such a place, but this small-town treasure is a well-kept secret. Piedmont can be found near the Alabama-Georgia state line near the halfway point between Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama. The community dates back all the way to the 1840s when settlers from North Carolina purchased land in the area to develop and settle their own town.
The town was named Cross Plains for the first 30 years of its existence but was changed to Piedmont in 1888. The name Piedmont means “foot of the mountains” in French, a reflection of the town’s location in the foothills of the southern Appalachian Mountain Range. Straddled by rugged national forest land and scenic mountain peaks, this amazing little city truly has it all, which is why you should search for an RV in Piedmont and explore the enchanting mountainous regions of eastern Alabama.

The Great Outdoors
It is easy to enjoy the serene wilderness areas of Alabama when you rent an RV in Piedmont, in fact, you couldn’t really avoid it if you wanted to. Little River Canyon National Preserve, for instance, is a phenomenal place to see and hear the pleasant sights and sounds of Alabama. The Little River is thought to be one of the longest mountaintop rivers in the country, way up on the Cumberland Plateau. The river is quite old and has been methodically carving its way through the rugged earth for millions of years, creating one of the deepest canyons in the southeastern United States. You can hike, hunt, fish, swim, boat, or search for the epic waterfalls that the park is known for. On the northern edge of the preserve is DeSoto State Park, named for the Spanish explorer. You can hike through the lush forests and find DeSoto Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in all of Alabama. The park has lots of fun components, like lodging, restaurants, pools, hiking trails, biking paths, and a few campgrounds where you can post up in your Piedmont RV rental by owner.Cloudland Canyon State Park is just over an hour's drive away in northwestern Georgia, and it is more than deserving of a visit. You can bring your Piedmont camper rental to the park which is located on top of Lookout Mountain. The ancient mountain range is full of strange geological oddities, breathtaking canyons, and subterranean cave ecosystems due to its unusual positioning over a tectonically active area. Hiking to scenic bluffs and vistas overlooking the canyons and rock climbing are fantastic ways to get the full experience while at the park.Saving the most obvious for last, Talladega National Forest is a massive forest on the southern edges of Piedmont, up in the mountains. Nearly 400,000 acres comprise this massive swath of land, brimming with incredible wildlife like coyotes, deer, and black bears. There are miles and miles of hiking trails weaving through the evergreen forests and over rocky terrain, all of which can be an absolute pleasure if you are into outdoor exploration. There are plenty of suitable camping spots in the forest where you can sleep overnight in the comfort of your Piedmont RV rental too.
RV Parks
Aside from the wealth of campsites in the nearby Talladega National Forest, there are quite a few places to camp within a half-hour's drive of Piedmont. Chief Ladiga Trail Campground is partially surrounded by national forest land, with access to several long-distance trails and trickling creeks. There is a cabin you can rent out for special functions, a convenience store, and well-kept bathroom facilities on site.Weiss Lake is a popular recreation area in the summertime, found about a 20-minute drive north of Piedmont. There are several campgrounds situated on the shores of the lake that are ideal for you and your Piedmont camper rental.
Exploring the City
Piedmont is a pleasant place to spend your vacation for a variety of reasons, but in between trips to see scenic areas and nature parks, you’ll probably want to unwind and relax around the town. You can find some fantastic eateries, bars, and shops in town, but hardly any real attractions. There are a few outdoor-oriented businesses that rent kayaks and offer tours and nature expeditions. Jacksonville, however, is a nearby college town worth looking into if you absolutely need to visit a museum. The Berman Museum of World History is a fascinating place to learn about human history from all over the planet. You can see ancient Chinese dynasty artifacts or weapons from the world wars of the 20th century, and countless other items from different eras.Next door to the history museum is the Anniston Museum of Natural History. This captivating repository tackles a different type of history, with exhibits concerning dinosaurs, paleontology, archeology, geology, and biology. There is a large collection of taxidermy within the museum that is one of its most popular features. The Jacksonville Opera Theater is the cultural hub of Jacksonville, nationally recognized for its contribution to art and music. The opera company puts on a variety of different plays, musicals, and operas that rival those of Broadway in New York City.
Renting from Jordan and his wife was magical. They made my camping trip 1000 times better. The camper is in amazing shape. There were no issues. The thought that Jordan and his wife put into the camper was immaculate. They thought of EVERYTHING. If we needed it during the trip, I found it in the camper. Their attention to detail was perfect. Everything was extremely organized and labeled. Jordan's instructions on how to operate the camper were perfect. He even kept the communication open when I couldn't remember a step. I am definitely a fan and will be renting with them again! You should too!! I promise you won't be sorry.
Everything was fantastic! Camper was set up already upon arrival. Very easy to communicate with the host. Camper was very spacious and we literally had everything we needed. Will most definitely look to utilize this camper again on our next trip to the area!
Seriously, if you’re going to rent this RV, you will not be disappointed. This 29-foot RV on a Chevy chassis has everything you need to have a pleasurable stay at any campsite. Jordan has thought of everything. The RV has beautiful white cabinets on the inside. He redid those to brighten up the interior. They are all firmly designed with magnetic clips so your belongings stay put.The RV is handily arranged with a new gas range, nearly new refrigerator and new toilet facilities. A deep two-sided sink in nickel-like metal is surrounded by a quartz-like counter with dark oil rubbed bronze faucet. Plenty of space surrounds the sink for food preparation with an additional pullout counter. Everything works well — especially the refrigerator, which keeps your food frozen or as cold as you wish. The shower is conveniently across the hall from the toilet. This works well when someone in your party needs one or the other facility. The shower is prettily designed with a beige tile look, oil-rubbed bronze hot and cold shower handles and a strong spray for the shower head. The toilet area has a new toilet and new sink with white cabinets that reach from waist high to ceiling. The fixtures are also oil-rubbed bronze. The countertops mimic expensive quartz, while being lightweight. The same type of countertop material is in the kitchen. The floors are covered in laminate tile — another clean and lightweight solution that keeps the RV easy to maintain. The bedroom at the back of the RV has a queen bed with a comfortable mattress. Cabinets are on each side of the bed. The hosts kindly included linen for the bedroom, but we brought our own. The cabinets were supplied with hangers for clothing, and drawers were fitted with containers for small items. All the windows were fitted with white accordion shades that easily pulled down or could be pushed up for a view of the outdoors. There were three windows in the bedroom for plenty of light and a television in the corner. The host included a broom and a utility attachment for items that needed to be kept quiet during a drive. The middle of the RV has a dining table and long bench seat. The bench folds out into a bed. The space over the driver’s cab contains an area large enough to accommodate two sleepers. A ladder is available for climbing into the cavity. The 4500 Chevy has more than enough power to get you up hills and over mountains. You do need to be mindful of the weight and width of the RV.The cab is equipped with a radio and DVD player that feeds into Bluetooth capabilities for smart phones. There are USB ports for digital devices. A separate cab air conditioner works well to keep the cab and a some of the interior cool. The interior is equipped with air conditioning and heating. The RV has a roomy storage compartment at the back. The sewage line has an elbow made of clear plastic so you can see what you’re doing. Jordan was available to help with our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed this RV experience. The RV was clean when we arrived and had basics like tissue, paper towels and linens. Jordan had tested everything before we arrived and had the RV cool fully fueled and ready to travel. Thanks for a pleasant experience.
