If you want to explore North Little Rock in Arkansas, the Downtown Riverside RV Park is a great place to stay. As the name suggests, it is in a beautiful setting, right next to the river. There is a pedestrian bridge over the river which takes you to the Bill Clinton Library, and there are often light shows on the bridges close by, which you shouldn't miss. At this park you get full hookup, WiFi, restrooms and showers, and there are plenty of picnic tables on the riverfront. There is also excellent security here. Close by, there are trails, so you can either hike or bike and see the countryside. You are near to the Saturday morning market and the Esse Purse museum. which has a bakery right next door and serves delicious pastries. The Old Mill is also worth a visit. It is a recreation of an 1880's water-powered mill, which was used in the classic film Gone with the Wind.

Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum

If you are interested in maritime history from the Second World War onwards, the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum is well worth a visit. It features the submarine, the USS Razorback, which will open your eyes to the life the marines had to endure. There are cramped quarters, the smell of diesel, and a lack of showers and laundry facilities. However, there were excellent chefs on board, so at least the men had delicious food. The submarine was commisioned on the 3rd April 1944. Following the Second World War, the submarine was used during both the Cold War and the Vietnam War. In 1970, it was commissioned to the Turkish navy, who gave it back to the US in 2004. It has been part of this museum since then, and is complete and unmodified. You will have a tour with a very experienced guide, who will take you back in time. Also on display is the USS Hoga, the last surviving vessel from the attack on Pearl Harbor. There is a small museum in a barge next to the submarine, which has some interesting artifacts. There is also a very nice gift shop. If you have a child who wants to do something different for his or her birthday, sleepover parties on the submarine can be arranged.

Toad Suck Campground, situated on the Arkansas River, is a popular destination for families and groups. Picnicking, boating and fishing all draw visitors to this shady campground. Natural features abound: They are situated in the eastern edge of both the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. The area is a haven for nature enthusiasts. Dogwood, redbud, wild plum and other native flowering trees offer breathtaking sights in springtime. Fishing is excellent year-round, and record fish catches are common in the Arkansas River. The waters have an abundance of bream, crappie, white bass, largemouth bass and several species of catfish. Toad Suck provides 48 sites with electric and water hookups, plus five group picnic shelters. Additional amenities include hot showers, a playground and boat ramp. Some of the nearby attractions include Cadron Blockhouse in Cadron Settlement Park, a replica of a structure that was built in the late 18th century, is a popular tourist attraction. The town of Conway hosts an annual Toad Suck Daze Festival, featuring a toad race competition.
