For being a city out in the middle of Canada’s expansive plains, Calgary has quite a lot to offer to its visitors. If you’re just looking for a quick stroll or a good morning run route, look no further than the Calgary Pathway. The network of trails and concrete paths provides pedestrians and cyclists access to much of the city without having to deal with vehicle traffic. Another favorite hangout is Prince’s Island Park in the downtown area. The park is home to the city’s Canada Day celebration at the beginning of July along with the Calgary Folk Festival towards the end of the month. At other times of the year, it’s just a great place for a picnic, a brisk walk, or if visiting during the winter months, cross-country skiing. Back in 1988, Calgary hosted the Winter Olympic Games. While many Olympic parks around the world sit vacant and become an eyesore for the city, Calgary has turned theirs into an adventure sports destination; it’s now possible to tour the repurposed facilities and try out some of the sports. Canada’s most visited national park, Banff National Park, is a little over an hour from the city. This gem of a park features snow-capped peaks, azure-hued Lake Louise, and tons of great hiking trails. You could spend weeks enjoying all that the park has to offer-it’s that kind of freedom that you can appreciate when you rent an RV. If you’d prefer a park with fewer crowds, head a little farther west with the Calgary camper rental to Yoho National Park, about 30 minutes away from Banff. It’s a little less touristy and doesn’t have the same beautifully colored lakes, but the rugged mountains will still please any true outdoors lover.
