The Great Outdoors
On the northern end of the city is a stunning nature preserve. Waldschutzgebiet Steinbachtal-Netzbachtal takes up around 2,500 acres of German countryside. Plan to spend a few hours wandering through the dense forests, serene streams, and swampy marshes. You’ll find plenty of hiking trails where you can get some exercise and become one with nature. Those looking for a challenge will find one on the Saar Loop, which runs for 10 miles and includes a ferry journey across the river. A shorter loop runs for just over four miles along the river.
