The Great Outdoors
While Parma is perhaps best known for its historic architecture, there are also plenty of great parks and outdoor spaces to enjoy in the area. One of the best of them is Parco Ducale. Situated on the western bank of the Parma River, this beautiful park was designed in the 16th century. The park is the site of the gorgeous Ducale Palace, but there's also plenty of bubbling fountains, tall trees, and grassy space to enjoy in this tranquil retreat.

Exploring the City
Parma is a city rich in history, so it's no surprise that there's plenty of old buildings and beautiful architecture to take in here. One of the clear standouts is the Parma Cathedral, one of the best Romanesque cathedrals anywhere in Italy. Construction of the cathedral started in the 11th century, with its amazing interior decorations added in the ensuing centuries. The interior artwork by Antonio da Correggio, particularly his depiction of the Assumption of the Virgin, is simply stunning.
