Meade State Park is located in the countryside of southwestern Kansas. It is just south of its namesake town, Meade, and is a three-hour drive from Wichita, which is the nearest large city. The park was originally a turkey ranch and was established in 1927. It is in the high plains and is home to a variety of plant and wildlife species.

The park is home to a large 80-acre lake, which makes it a popular destination for fishing and boating. This park even has its own fish hatchery. There is also a large hunting area as well as hundreds of acres of designated campsites, which offer access for RV camping.

There are several shaded areas where you can enjoy a picnic, as well as conveniently located fire rings and grills. At the small concession stand on-site, you can purchase ice, snacks, and other basic camping supplies.

Most of the campsites at Meade State Park are quite close to the lake, which means that there is easy access for fishing and swimming. The park's hiking trails start at the campsite as well. There is a playground conveniently located on-site for those who are traveling with children. There are also horseshoe pits and pavilions for large gatherings.

Exploring The Area

The small town of Meade is a short drive from the state park. When camping in an RV there, Meade will be the easiest place to purchase food, toiletries, and any other essentials you may need. There are several grocery and convenience store options along Carthage Street, which is the town's main thoroughfare. There are also multiple gas stations where you can refuel the Meade motorhome rental. The town has a small golf course and a few parks. There are also some small chain restaurant options in town.
