The Great Outdoors

Zumbrota campers will no doubt want to make a trip to one of the parks along Lake Pepin. Frontenac State Park features colorful forests, prairies, and wetlands along the lake's shoreline and is a popular spot for birdwatchers, with over 250 different species of birds reported within the park's boundaries. These species include rare birds such as bald eagles and several species of hawk. There is also an abundance of mammals, including woodchucks, white-tailed deer, and beavers. The best way to see this wildlife is by exploring the 13-mile-long hiking trail, which leads through the woods, up cliffs, and along gorges. Lake Pepin and the Mississippi River are both accessible from the park and are excellent for swimming, boating, and fishing.Another popular park worth visiting during your campervan rental vacation near Zumbrota is Whitewater State Park. This park features over 2,500 acres of forests situated on limestone cliffs and rocky valleys overlooking the Whitewater River. Nature watching is another popular pastime, and there are over 300 different species of birds and mammals inhabiting the park. Sakatah Lake State Park is located at one of the lakes, which is a widening of the Cannon River. The park mainly consists of lush forestry along the lake's edge, and there are five miles of gentle hiking trails, ideal for a gentle stroll. During your walk, keep an eye out for the park's wildlife, such as woodpeckers, mink, and rabbits. The river is also a favorite spot for canoeing, and fishing is possible along the river, with catches that include northern pike, bass, and walleye.

Exploring the City

While enjoying your motorhome rental near Zumbrota, you'll no doubt want to branch out and visit some of the nearby cities. Rochester is the closest major city and features many exciting attractions for all ages. The Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo is a small nature park that features over 30 species of animals, many of which have been rescued or have injuries that stop them from being released into the wild. There are some intriguing critters on display, including bison, cougars, and otters. This park allows visitors to see many native animals up close in an open and natural setting.Alternatively, RV campers may want to plan a trip to Minneapolis, one of Minnesota's premier cities. It features several intriguing cultural attractions, including the Minneapolis Institute of Art. This museum is one of the best in the state and features over 90,000 pieces of artwork and relics, including artifacts from Ancient Eygpt and paintings by modern masters. There are 5,000 years of history on display here, and some of the highlights from the museum's permanent collection include works by Picasso, Rembrandt, and Pissarro.While in Minneapolis, you can also visit the Mall of America. This massive mall is full of shops, theme parks, and much more, and one of the highlights is Sea Life at Mall of America. This aquarium covers over 100,000 square feet and features a huge array of aquatic life, including loggerhead sea turtles, nurse sharks, and clownfish. The aquarium also runs aquatic encounters, where visitors can feed rays and snorkel with tropical fish.
