Discover Minneapolis, MN

Wanting a fresh adventure to wet your whistle? Go north and rent a motorhome in Minneapolis! This global city is located in Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Lakes (actually closer to 12,000). It neighbors the state’s capital, St. Paul, and both cities are rich in history, art and vibrant culture. Minneapolis straddles both banks of the Mississippi River, just north of the Minnesota River. The area is nearly overflowing with water—the city containing creeks, wetlands, waterfalls and more than a dozen lakes. You can drive around the city or park your RV rental in Minneapolis and take advantage of how well connected the transportation system is. Minneapolis has two light rails and one commuter rail line. Nice Ride Minnesota is a collection of bicycle sharing kiosks with more than 170 stations sprinkled throughout the city. The Minneapolis Skyway is the longest indoor pedestrian walkway system in the world, extending over seven miles. It links eight blocks downtown, with second-floor entrances to restaurants and retailers.

The Great Outdoors

Keep your rental camper in Minneapolis and explore Minnehaha Regional Park, located within the city. The riverfront park encompasses more than 190 acres with trails, bike paths, disc golf course, dog park, gardens, and a waterfall acknowledged in the Longfellow poem, “The Song of Hiawatha”. Minnehaha also offers sports leagues, nature programs, music, and arts. Go for a jaunt in your Minneapolis RV rental about 10 miles outside the city, and you’ll find Fort Snelling State Park. It’s the location of historic Fort Snelling. Originally Fort Saint Anthony, the site was deemed a national treasure and designated as a National Historic Landmark. Hike one of the trails around Snelling Lake or Pike Island and take in the breathtaking river views of both the Mississippi and Minnesota.

If you want to venture a little further, Kinnickinnic State Park in River Falls, Wisconsin is worth checking out. Less than an hour from Minneapolis, this park sits where the Kinnickinnic River meets the St. Croix. There are plenty of RV friendly campsites, and lots of outdoor activities to enjoy like hiking, swimming, fishing and boating. About an hour north of Minneapolis is Wild River State Park. There are more than 30 miles of trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, and around 20 miles of bridleway for horse riding. Snowshoe and ski rentals are available at the Trail Center. Park your RV rental trailer from Minneapolis at the Snake River Forest Campground. Located in the Chengwatana State Forest along the Snake River Water Trail, it’s managed by Wild River State Park.

RV Parks

The park is also just minutes away from some of Minnesota’s top attractions like Valley Fair, US Bank Stadium, Mall of America and the Zoo. Dakotah Meadows RV Park rests in the idyllic Minnesota River Valley. It’s pet-friendly and has an on-site RV wash and fueling station. Exploring the City

Minneapolis is best known as the sister of St. Paul, together they are the Twin Cities. The metropolis is the home of beloved musician, Prince. He gave birth to the “Minneapolis sound”—a hybrid of rock, pop, funk, and R&B. The city is also rich in the arts. While taking in the sights in your Minneapolis rental RV, Visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Walker Art Center, or the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to see some of the finest artworks of culture, creativity and beauty. The area also hosts a slew of annual events for the arts including Art-A-Whirl, the Stone Arch Bridge Festival, and the Uptown Metris Art Fair. Minneapolis has great eats too. Grab a Jucy Lucy, an iconic American burger filled with oozy American cheese. Matt’s Bar claims to be the founding location, boasting famous visitors like President Barack Obama. Walleye is a Minnesota staple. Stop in at Tavern On Grand where they serve it in a ridiculous number of ways: like walleye cakes, spring rolls, and tacos. Lefse is a traditional Norwegian flatbread made of potato. Taste of Scandinavia Cafe celebrates the area’s Nordic heritage by serving several lefse dishes. There’s plenty to do and much to see in Minneapolis, making it an outstanding destination.
