This is the first interstate park in America. In the mid-19th century, as the mining industry encroached on the area, government officials in both states worked to protect the land. Thanks to these efforts, one of the most beautiful state parks in the area was created, with a rich ecosystem that supports white-tailed deer, foxes, otters, beavers, and over 70 different bird species.

The park is perfectly secluded to provide the tranquil atmosphere you'd expect from a state park and still close to more populated areas with shopping and dining facilities.
