Before its closure in the early 1970s, this defunct prison was one of the biggest and most expensive correctional institutions in the country. It was featured in several Hollywood films and housed some of the country's most infamous criminals. Now open to the public, visitors can arrange tours can explore the cell blocks, visit Al Capone's old prison cell, and much more. The jail is also said to be haunted, and those feeling brave can book a paranormal investigation to see if anything goes bump in the night.You may be traveling with young children while on your campervan rental vacation.
