The Great Outdoors

One of the main attractions of North Carolina is the Piedmont Plateau and the Morrow Mountain State Park near Albemarle, which provides access to some of the highest points and most adventurous trails in this region. Many visitors take advantage of the chance to horseback ride on sections of the 16 miles of bridleway or walk the 15 miles of diverse hiking trails to the summit of Mt Morrow. Other activities available within the park include paddling and swimming. Canoes, kayaks, and rowboats are available onsite and there are boat ramps on the edges of Lake Tillery for launching your own vessel. There is also a well-equipped campsite and RV park where you can take the Concord RV rental and spend a night surrounded by nature.

The Lake Norman State Park, in Troutman, is on the banks of the largest man-made lake in North Carolina. The lake offers opportunities for boating and water sports as well as camping and swimming from the beach on the south side of the lake. There is a child-friendly Dragonfly trail and four miles of hiking-only trails, but the park is most popular with mountain bikers. The park offers over 30.5 miles of trail which follow the lakeside and loop through the surrounding woodland.

For a short and relaxing excursion with the Concord camper rental, there is the Frank Liske Park, located just outside the city. This tranquil retreat was once a working farm, and it’s now a 238-acre nature park which offers pleasant picnic areas, boating on the lake, sporting facilities such as volleyball and tennis courts, playing fields, mini-golf, and nature trails. The park is also host to the monarch butterfly.
