Cleveland is an hour's drive northeast of the Sunset Lake campsites and features an array of cultural and historical attractions. Check out some of your heroes at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or find another kind of inspiration at the Cleveland Museum of Art. In Mansfield, you can visit the Ohio State Reformatory, the Mansfield Fire Museum, and the family-friendly Little Buckeye Children's Museum.

The Great Outdoors

Numerous state parks and natural areas are within easy reach when you're camping at Sunset Lake Campground. Malabar Farm State Park is an hour's drive south and offers opportunities for hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing. At this unique state park, you can tour a classic farm complete with a mansion, a silo, and other farm structures. The site also has a youth hostel, a horse camp, an award-winning restaurant, a greenhouse, and picnic grounds. Learn about the land by participating in interpretive programs and touring the various farming exhibits on-site.You will find a more traditional outdoor experience at Mohican-Memorial State Forest in Perrysville. Stop by the Memorial Forest Shrine, dedicated to the Ohio citizens lost in conflict since World War II. Hike the multiple trails weaving through the forest; some trails can be used for snowmobiling or mountain biking depending on the time of year. In this 4,500-acre forest, you can also enjoy horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping, and great views from the Fire Tower.Less than an hour's drive east of Sunset Lake Campground, Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Akron is within easy day-tripping distance. Experience the waters of the Cuyahoga River, surrounded by rich forests, rolling hills, and open prairie. View various portions of the park on a relaxing and scenic train ride, tour the interactive exhibits at the visitor center, or hike the trails. Adventure quests, fishing, kayaking, golfing, and horseback riding are also popular pastimes here.

Explore the City

While you're camping at Sunset Lake Campground, you can head into Wellington to access some city conveniences. This small town is just ten miles from the campground and has a few gas stations, some fast-food and family-friendly restaurants, and a couple of grocery stores. For a broader selection of services, travel a few miles south to Lodi.Cleveland is home to an array of attractions. Movie fans will appreciate a visit to A Christmas Story House. The home was used in the Christmas favorite, A Christmas Story, and is displayed as it was in the flick, complete with the leg lamp in the window. Tour the house or stay overnight to extend your experience. While you're here, you can view all the costumes, props, and memorabilia from the movie.At the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, visitors can view exhibits highlighting creatures from all over the world. Observe residents of the Great Lakes and check out displays including Explore Asia & Indonesia, Tropical Forest, Giant Pacific Octopus, Coastal Boardwalk, and Tropical Reef. Watch the daily feedings, dive teams, and shark-cams, all providing amazing perspectives of the world beneath the water's surface.If you are looking to get an adrenaline fix, head over to Cedar Point in Sandusky. The "world’s roller coaster capital" has 18 world-class roller coasters to test your mettle. Rides like Blue Streak, Corkscrew, and Wicked Twister will satisfy your need for speed. You can also cool off at the water park, with waterslides, wave pools, kiddie areas, and cabanas. There are also dining venues, live shows, and other interesting experiences like wine tours, glass-blowing, gemstone mining, and Segway tours. Family-friendly attractions and rides for children are also featured here; there's something for everyone when you visit Cedar Point.

What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
