The most rough and tumble van in our fleet, "Dog Patch" is the essential utilitarian surf van, with easy clean vinyl seating, and a rubber lined floor, complete with cargo tie downs. Aptly named, "Dog Patch" is also the only van in our fleet that allows pets onboard. The rear bench seat folds neatly into a queen size bed, and there's a built in, flip up table for meals / laptops.This manual shift vanagon has a mild 1" lift, and sits on oversize 16" tires for a smooth, stable ride. With a Thule surf rack up top, full panoramic windows, and and a detachable curtain set for extra privacy, this van is perfect for a quick trip up the coast, or as a spectacularly rad substitute for a rental car on your next SoCal surf trip. Please note the pass is not valid for city operated beach parking or overnight camping, regardless of location.Want to rent surfboards or more camping gear? We've got you covered. Just check of the list of what you want (fees apply) and we'll handle the rest.Other things to notePlease keep in mind that this is a vintage rig, max highway speed is 65 mph, and even with all the upgrades and a perfectly tuned stock engine, the van is quite slow up hills (45-50 mph) and climbing steep grades should be avoided whenever possible. Please note that travel on or over the "grapevine" is strictly forbidden (the pass on the 5 freeway between LA and Bakersfield), so if you're traveling the coast, the 101 should be your route of choice.This is a manual (stick shift) vehicle. You must be able to proficiently pilot this vehicle in order to take possession at time or rental, and you should also be familiar with cab-over vehicle handling. Please DO NOT rent the van if you've never driven stick, or if you are out of practice or are unsure of your ability to drive a manual. These are not performance vehicles - they are vintage beach cruisers and must be treated with love & care.Pets are welcome onboard "Dog Patch" (our only van that allows pets), but please note there is no smoking at all (of any kind) inside the van, and that use for festivals and/or Burning Man is not allowed.

My wife Amanda and I are the owners / founders of a small women's surf & swimwear brand called SEEA. Since moving to Southern California in 2010, we've been surfing at San Onofre and exploring the Pacific coast, from Baja up to Big Sur. We got our first VW in 2014, the same year our daughter was born. Since then, restoring VW's has been my main passion and hobby. Westfalia campers are truly unique vehicles, and there's simply nothing I like better than cruising the coast with my family in a well-tuned vintage van. As a natural extension of our own surf & travel adventures, the decision to share that stoke with others is a joyous one - so we're excited to introduce SAN-O VAN as a fun, alternative platform for your surf centric coast explorations.
