Fair Play, South Carolina is a tiny town, located in the far northwestern portion of the state. Situated off of I-85, Fair Play resides in a very rural portion of the state, near where the North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia borders all meet. The nearest larger town is Anderson, SC, about 20 miles to the east. According to legend, the town got its name when, long ago, an onlooker, watching a fight between two men, told them they should "play fair".

There are several Walmarts located within 40 miles of town and camping may be allowed at these locations. Just check with the manager to get permission. The area also features several grocery stores and large truck stops that might meet your needs. Please speak with the managers of these locales regarding overnight camping options. Exploring the City
