The Great Outdoors

While vacationing in Spain, spend a few afternoons soaking up some peace and quiet in the local parks. Parque de María Luisa, or Maria Luisa Par,k is an excellent public park that runs along the Guadalquivir River. With over 100 acres to explore, you can easily spend several hours hiking, picnicking, or just relaxing in the shade. While hiking, you may come across one or two waterfalls that will make the perfect backdrop for a few selfies.

Alamillo Park, located just outside of Seville, is a large urban park covering over 296 acres. Bring your camera and binoculars for some bird watching while relaxing in this park. Birds commonly sighted include redstarts, warblers, ducks, kingfishers, and hoopoes. Sit beside one of the small lakes and watch the wildlife come and go throughout the day. Pack a picnic and relax underneath one of the large shade trees.

Take a stroll through Jardín Americano, or the American Garden. This peaceful park has well-maintained garden beds overflowing with flowers, plants, and shrubs. Small water pools and fountains are interspersed throughout the park for visitors to enjoy, giving the area a tranquil feel. Sit on one of the benches and watch as some of the wildlife come out to explore.

Camping in Seville

You'll find plenty of Seville RV campgrounds where you can park the RV rental, such as Area Soster Camper – Sevilla. This campground located right in the city keeps you close to the action, offering basic amenities such as restrooms, showers, and electricity. Once you've organized your campsite, you can easily walk to the Parque de María Luisa and stretch your legs after a long day of traveling.

Another Seville RV park you might like to consider is Área Autocaravanas Sevilla, or the Sevilla Motorhome Area. While this isn't a luxury RV park, the toilets and showers are clean and modern, making it a cozy stopover. Campsites have electricity, water, and Wi-Fi. This no-frills campground doesn't offer any activities for you to enjoy with your fellow campers, but it's close to restaurants, shopping, and parks.

Pick up your RV rental in Seville and head over to Camping Villsom Sevilla in Dos Hermanas. Campsites are spacious and have electricity and water. It's only about 30 minutes to Seville, but Dos Hermanas also boasts family-friendly attractions, such as shops, cafes, restaurants, theaters, and museums. Unpack your bags, then slip into your bathing suit for a dip in the swimming pool at the campground, or grab a bite to eat at the restaurant and get to know other campers.

Exploring the City

Before leaving the city, check out the Royal Alcázar of Seville, originally built for King Peter of Castile. The castle is still used by the royal family when they visit Seville, but guided tours of specific areas on the main level of the castle are available. Wander through the courtyards and gardens, then stop at the café located on the lower level of the castle and enjoy a quick bite.

Visit the Museo Arqueolóligico de Sevilla, or the Archeological Museum of Seville. When you enter the museum, you'll notice the beautiful architecture of the building designed by Aníbal González. Enjoy wandering through the museum and pay extra attention to the Roman statues and mosaics. These are in excellent condition and give you a glimpse of the influence the Romans had on the region.

After touring the Royal Alcázar of Seville, plan to see the Catedral de Sevilla, or the Cathedral of Seville. The cathedral is located just a short distance from the castle. The cathedral stands an impressive 138 feet tall with a spire that's just short of 350 feet tall, making it one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. The beauty of the cathedral will leave you speechless with marble statues and original paintings dating back to the 15th century. Christopher Columbus and his son were buried in the crypt beneath the cathedral.
