The resort offers unspoiled nature and wildlife, fishing ponds, a swimming pool, a pavilion, tennis and volleyball courts, a playground, a full-service restaurant, and a camp store. Pontoons, kayaks, and paddleboards are available for rent. Other campground amenities include restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a dump station, and WiFi.
There are three separate campgrounds at the resort: Big Eagle Campground, Pine Point Campground, and Resort Campground. Sites at Buchanan Resort are available with full hookups or water and electric hookups. Cable TV is offered too. Weekly pump-outs are available. The campsites at the Resort Campground have picnic tables and grills, and all of the Buchanan Resort campgrounds are family-friendly.

This site is adjacent to Kentucky Lake. The upland areas are part of a cooperative farming program that is managed to provide food for waterfowl, including diving ducks, loons, and grebes. Other bird species here include gulls, shorebirds, wading birds, raptors, ospreys, and the golden eagle, which is a Tennessee threatened species.
