While it’s not quite clear where these two names came from, it’s believed that “Soddy” is a Cherokee word while “Daisy” was used to honor the daughter of a prominent coal miner.

Besides being used as a tavern and inn, this tavern also once served as the county’s courthouse and a Civil War hospital. Tours can be taken of its interior where you’ll find historic artifacts. The museum also hosts Pioneer Days throughout the year and a farmers market during the spring and summer.
