Maverick Ranch RV Park At Lajitas Golf Resort Spa

Once you’ve settled into one of the campsites at Maverick Ranch RV Park, the first place you can explore is Big Bend National Park. This extensive national park is one of the most famous in the country. Offering an impressive contrast to the dry and flatlands of West Texas, Big Bend is home to flowing waterways, high peaks, and acres of prairie. Here, over 1,200 protected plant species have been identified as well as a wide variety of wildlife. Look out for rare birds and land mammals while you explore the park's trail network. One of the most popular park trails is a gentle hike to a viewpoint on Grapevine Hill. If you’re looking for a challenge, step onto the South Rim Trail and camp out in the backcountry. During the summer heat, multi-day canoeing and kayaking excursions are popular activities. Less adventurous visitors can enjoy spectacular views along the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. Big Bend Ranch State Park is also nearby when you’re camping at Maverick Ranch RV Park. Not only was this one of the largest ranches in Texas, but it’s now one of the largest state parks in the state. Here you can explore over 280 miles of trails. These range from challenging routes through the remote backcountry to beginner-friendly front country trails. Choose to hike, mountain bike, or horseback ride through spectacular scenery. Alternatively, you can discover the park by canoe or kayak. Adrenaline lovers might want to sign up for a white-water rafting excursion on the river while visitors of all ages and abilities can enjoy a night under a starry sky. As an International Dark Sky Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park is the perfect spot for stargazing. A lesser-known highlight of the area is Black Gap Wildlife Management Area. Set in the Chihuahuan Desert, Black Peak is a playground for adventure lovers. The area is home to several species of wildlife, including ring-tail cats, bighorn sheep, and elusive black bears. Black Gap is one of the best places for wildlife watching when you camp in an RV near Alpine. Bird watchers can go to Brushy and Maravillas Canyons to see seasonal songbirds, falcons, eagles, and more. Alternatively, trek through diverse flora or ride a mountain bike on 200 miles of primitive roads. You can even take your RV rental for a 10-mile driving tour within the WMA.
