Palmdale RV Resort is located between Brownsville and Harlingen in South Texas and is very close to South Padre Island. This Los Fresnos campground is also very close to the US/Mexico border. It is within easy driving distance of Corpus Christi and Laredo.The campsites at Palmdale RV Resort have 30/50 amp electric connections, water, and sewer hookups, and cable and internet service. The sites are very large, so you’ll have some privacy during your RV camping trip. Modern restrooms and showers are on-site for your convenience and comfort, as well as a laundry room. A swimming pool and a hot tub are on the premises, as well as a large recreation hall with a library, billiards, shuffleboard, poker, and more. The resort caters to seniors but can accommodate RV travelers of all ages. Community events are hosted throughout the week, so you’ll want to check the calendar during your stay to see what’s happening.

The Great Outdoors

There are lots of fun things to do outdoors when you go RV camping at Palmdale RV Resort. The resort is just outside of the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, which is a very popular place for wildlife watching. Depending on where you are in the park, you might see sea turtles and other reptiles, many different species of migratory birds, as well as many other types of animals and plants. Trails for hiking and biking run throughout the refuge. Anglers can fish in designated areas and will have the opportunity to hook unique fish species, including speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and blue crab. It's best to review local fishing regulations prior to casting your line.South Padre Island has numerous beautiful beaches where you can go swimming, surfing, and fishing, or relax in the sunshine. Andy Bowie County Park is open to the public and is known for its beautiful and pristine beaches. It also has a designated fishing area. The Laguna Madre Nature Trail runs the length of the island and is an ideal place to enjoy the vibrant wildlife of the area. Boca Chica State Park is located just south of the island and is also known for its clean and secluded beaches. There are areas for fishing and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as in the South Bay.Harlingen has several hiking and biking trails that you can access while camping in an RV at Palmdale RV Resort. The Liberty Park Gardens Hike and Bike Trail starts in Harlingen and runs through the area. There are also several small but beautiful parks in the area, including the Harlingen Thicket and the Hugh Ramsey Nature Park. These parks have a network of running trails and lots of open space for sports to enjoy while motorhome camping.

Exploring The Area

Palmdale RV Resort is conveniently located very close to many major attractions in the Brownsville/South Padre Island area. Several gas stations and grocery stores are located just outside of the RV park, and some locally-owned restaurants can be found in nearby Brownsville. The town's proximity to the ocean and to Mexico means there's a broad selection of excellent seafood and Mexican food to choose from when you book an RV rental in Cameron County.The RV resort is located very close to the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park. This park was the site of a critical 19th-century battle and is an important part of the area's history. In Brownsville, you'll also want to visit the Gladys Porter Zoo, which has a huge variety of animal species to observe and learn about. The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art and the Historic Brownsville Museum are both worth a visit as well for those looking to add some culture to their vacation. Nearby Harlingen is smaller and more relaxed, but you’ll still find lots of parks as well as charming local boutiques.South Padre Island offers lots of sightseeing opportunities. The whole island is full of beautiful beaches where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. You can also take sailing trips and guided bird watching tours from many private outfitters on the island. The island is also home to the largest sandcastle in the United States, as well as other fascinating sand sculptures. The Port Isabel Lighthouse is also worth a visit - it was built in the mid-19th century and has been preserved, so it is available to tour. The island is also home to several amusement parks and water parks, as well as nightlife for adults.

What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
