Travel the city with the Metrolink, ride on a water taxi, or travel the countryside on horseback while you rent an RV in Manchester. This northern city’s modern industrial flare is what makes Manchester one of the most progressive cities in the UK.

This emerging foodie hotspot offers your palate everything from classic fine dining to afternoon tea, pop-up food markets, street food, quirky coffee shops, sit-in cafes, and fresh delis. Taste the infamous Manchester Bury Black Pudding or Manchester caviar. (It’s not actually pudding, and that mushy green stuff definitely isn’t guacamole.) You’ll have the chance to taste these local delicacies and so much more when you choose a rig from Manchester RV rentals by owner.

Discover Manchester

The Great Outdoors

Leave your Manchester RV rental behind to unearth the area's breathtaking wilderness. Known as “The Weighvers’ Seaport” during the Victorian Era, Hollingworth Lake Country Park is a perfect spot for family and friends to enjoy the great outdoors. Situated on Hollingworth Lake at Smithy Bridge in Littleborough, this 118-acre plot of countryside offers plenty of water activities and picnicking spots. Campers can practice the art of teamwork within the confines of a rowboat, or sail the perimeter of the lake. Anglers will appreciate the abundance of bream, carp, tench, roach, and perch that swim beneath the surface. Rest and eat in one of the pubs, cafes, or restaurants in the area. After a long day of exploring, get some sleep inside your Manchester luxury RV rental within the park.

Unwind and try your luck fishing at the Piethorne reservoir, located above Newhey by the town Milnrow. You’ll need a day permit for fishing at this spot. Fletcher Moss Park and Botanical Gardens contain some rare and intriguing trees. You can walk your dog through the scenery which is decorated with lush green mosaics. If you’re quiet, you can listen for songs of the rare whitethroat. Did you forget to pack a snack? Don’t worry — you can pick wild garlic along the rivers to munch on, or just stare at the prolific Butterbur used to store butter in the days of yore. If your belly’s still rumbling, you'll find many quaint pubs and cafes less than half a mile from the bustling Didsbury village, south of Manchester.

Camping in Manchester

Once you book an RV in Manchester, you'll need to find the perfect Manchester RV campground to accommodate it. Drive your camper rental to the outskirts of Oldham in the Saddleworth village of Denshaw and lodge at the Moorlands Saddleworth. At this campground, visitors have access to laundry facilities, fresh water, electric hookups, showers, toilets, and garbage disposal.

If you’re looking for a small, family-friendly site, then you can drive your Manchester motorhome rental to the edge of the Piethorne Valley and stay at Piethorne Valley Camping. Open during select times of the year, this pet-friendly park is easy to navigate. It has access to public footpaths, equestrian trails, and cycle routes. Caravanners will have a choice of level sites set on grass or asphalt with 16-amp electric hookups. Amenities include a communal reception block with a shared kitchen and laundry facilities. When you stay at this location, you’ll be within walking distance of family-friendly pubs, restaurants, and shops.

Access both the country and the city at Burrs Country Park Caravan Club Site, once the site of two cotton mills, Higher Woodhill Mill and Burrs Mill on the River Irwell. The campground is only a 30-minute ride via Tramlink to Manchester. The East Lancashire Railway heritage steam and diesel train passes the caravan site on a 12-mile route through the Irwell Valley. Electric hookups, laundry facilities, showers and toilets, gas, waste disposal, and motorhome service stations are available for campers.

Exploring the City

Castleshaw Roman Forts remnants are located in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Forts used by the Roman Army are an extremely rare find, and preserving the ancient structure has been of national importance for some time. The layout suggests it was inhabited by Rigodunum, a Brigantian settlement, yet it still remains an unproven mystery. Ironically, though, rigodunum means "royal fort."

Downtown, The John Rylands Library is a breathtaking building of Neo-Gothic architecture. Come see one of the world’s richest libraries which is home to some of the most unique collections of books, manuscripts, maps, works of art, and interesting objects. Patrons are welcome to peek inside at a few of the marvelous rooms, one of which is the Historic Reading Room. With a similar to the layout to a church, visitors can gaze at the high glass windows or, step inside an alcove with a good read from the collection of over four million books and manuscripts. Taking the stairs down from the entrance hall, you can pop to the loo and find the original Victorian toilets. Amazingly, they're still in use today!

Plenty of shopping and bargains can be found at the flea markets in the Greater Manchester area. Browse the 300 stalls of the plentiful markets in Bury and stock up on all the essentials that you’ll need for your Manchester motorhome rental, and maybe even a trinket or two to take home with you. From here, you can extend your trip into Liverpool, Sheffield, or Leeds.
