A couple of fish species live in this lake, including rainbow and brook trout. Puffer Lake is regularly maintained and restocked by the Beaver Ranger District. The lake is located high up in the mountains, and it freezes as soon as the temperatures drop. This marks the start of the ice fishing season at Puffer Lake.

Camping at Puffer Lake

There are no campgrounds on the shores of Puffer Lake that can accommodate long vehicles. However, Beaver KOA Campground is just a short drive away from the lake and will provide you with all the features you might need for a comfortable stay. There are more than 70 gravel sites for RVs at this campground. The amenities include restrooms, showers, picnic areas, and free WiFi. If you need snacks or beverages, a small convenience store near the campground’s office is open around the clock.

Exploring the Area

Nestled underneath the Tushar Mountains, Beaver is a small city with a very rich history. Puffer Lake campers could take a short drive to Beaver, and spend an afternoon exploring this place. Should you want to learn more about Beaver and the surrounding area, you could start your tour at the Beaver Territorial Courthouse Museum. The museum is located at the old courthouse that was completed in 1876. This museum houses numerous artifacts, documents, photographs, and items that tell a fascinating story of Beaver. Philo Farnsworth, the inventor of television, was born in Beaver, and the city is incredibly proud of him. There is a statue of the famous inventor right next to the museum.
