With over 240,000 acres to cover, there are a variety of ways to enjoy the area. Wildlife watching is a popular pastime, and bluff-top views and boat tours are the best ways to see the river. Outdoor enthusiasts can find fishing and hunting spots around the area. Stop by the visitor center, and you can delve into all sorts of environmental education programs and interpretive activities to see all the most interesting landmarks.Learn about history and culture while amid the beauty of nature by taking a trip to Effigy Mounds National Monument in Harpers Ferry. Here you can view over 200 Native American burial mounds, some shaped like woodland creatures. Discover how they were built and learn about the mound builder cultures who designed them. The site features a 15-minute video highlighting the history of the area, and guided tours are offered in the summer to help you make the most out of your visit.
