Coachella RV camping works differently than most people expect: you can't park an RV at the festival itself. Coachella's official camping rules ban RVs, motorhomes, and trailers onsite, so RVers stay at full-hookup resorts a few miles away in Indio and Coachella and travel in each day. The payoff is air conditioning, a real bed, and a private bathroom — luxuries the car campers will envy by Saturday afternoon.
In Brief
- No RVs onsite: Coachella's camping rules prohibit RVs, motorhomes, trailers, and gas generators.
- Stay nearby: RV resorts in Indio and Coachella sit within about seven miles of the festival grounds.
- Dates are out: Coachella 2027 runs April 9–11 and April 16–18, so book a resort now.
- Transport matters: some resorts run a festival shuttle; others leave you to rideshare.
- Stagecoach is different: the country festival at the same venue does offer onsite RV sites.
Can you bring an RV to Coachella?
No. Coachella's official camping page states "NO RV/Motorhome camping," and the festival bans RVs, trailers, motorhomes, buses, and U-Haul trucks from its campgrounds. Gas generators are prohibited too. If you want to sleep in an RV, you'll need to stay at an offsite RV resort and travel to the festival each day.
The Coachella camping rules list the full ban: "NO motorcycles, RVs, trailers, motorhomes, buses or U-Haul trucks." Onsite options are limited to car camping, tent camping, and glamping-style lodging such as Lake Eldorado and Safari Camping, with camping open from Thursday morning to Monday morning and a 1:30 a.m. noise curfew.
Coachella has announced its 2027 dates: April 9–11 and April 16–18. That gives you plenty of time to lock down an RV and a site.
Where can you park an RV near Coachella?
RVers stay at full-hookup RV resorts in Indio and Coachella, most within about seven miles of the Empire Polo Club. These resorts typically require a three-night minimum over festival dates and fill well ahead. Pick based on whether you want a free festival shuttle, big-rig space, or a quieter base.
- Shadow Hills RV Resort — Location: Indio; Distance to festival: 7 miles; Hookups: Water, sewer, 30/50-amp; Festival shuttle: Yes, free for guests (2026 season).
- Coachella Lakes RV Resort — Location: Coachella; Distance to festival: Less than 7 miles; Hookups: Full hookups, 30/50-amp; pull-thrus up to 45 ft; Festival shuttle: No.
- Indian Waters RV Resort — Location: Indio; Distance to festival: Not stated; Hookups: Full hookups, 30/50-amp; Festival shuttle: Not stated.
Shadow Hills RV Resort
Shadow Hills RV Resort says it's "Located Just 7 Miles from the Festival Grounds!" and ran two buses every festival day of the 2026 season starting at noon — free for guests. As of October 2026, it lists its 2027 festival details as coming soon. RV sites have water, sewer, and 30- and 50-amp electricity. For groups who don't want to think about transport, this is the easy pick.
Coachella Lakes RV Resort
Coachella Lakes RV Resort has 351 full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp service, and its pull-through sites fit big rigs up to 45 feet. It's less than seven miles from the Empire Polo Club, but the resort's festival weekend page notes it doesn't run its own shuttle and requires a three-night minimum over festival dates.
Indian Waters RV Resort
Indian Waters RV Resort in Indio offers 266 full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp service and a three-night minimum during Coachella and Stagecoach. Ask about distance and transport when you book.
Hosts in the Coachella Valley tell us festival weekends book months out, so reserve the resort and the RV at the same time. Pickup is easy from RV rentals in Indio or RV rentals in La Quinta.

How do you get from your RV park to the festival?
Use your resort's shuttle if it has one, buy Coachella's official Shuttle Pass, or rideshare — and expect surge pricing after the last set. Driving the RV to the festival isn't an option, since RVs aren't allowed in festival lots. A designated driver in a separate car is another route if you have one.
As of October 2026, Coachella sells a Shuttle Pass for $150 that lets you "Hop on at any participating stop" for rides to and from the festival. Its 2027 shuttle stop list covers hotels and Park & Ride lots from Indio to Palm Springs but no RV resorts, so plan how you'll reach a stop before you count on it.
We've heard enough 2 a.m. rideshare-surge stories to recommend a shuttle-served park. If you do rideshare, agree on a meeting spot before the headliner, because finding your crew in a crowd that size at 2 a.m. is harder than it sounds.
Is renting an RV for Coachella worth it?
For groups who value air conditioning, a real bed, and a private bathroom, yes. An RV beats a tent on comfort and beats a hotel on group space, but you'll pay for the rental, resort fees, and transport. It's best for four or more people splitting costs who want a home base between sets.
RV vs. car camping vs. hotel
- RV at a nearby resort — Comfort: A/C, bed, bathroom, kitchen; Distance: About 7 miles; Watch out for: Resort premiums, transport each day.
- Onsite car camping — Comfort: Tent or car, shared restrooms; Distance: Walk in; Watch out for: Heat in a tent; RVs not allowed.
- Hotel or rental home — Comfort: A/C and beds; Distance: Varies; Watch out for: Prices spike on festival weekends.
As of October 2026, the same passes page lists onsite car camping at $40 a night, or $160 total, while powered car camping is $155 a night, or $620 total (plus local occupancy tax) — with "a guaranteed spot with a power outlet" and upgraded restrooms and showers. An RV costs more but gets you a real bed and A/C. In our experience, festival groups who rent an RV rave about one thing: waking up cool while everyone else is baking in a tent.

How do you survive desert heat (and cold nights) in an RV?
Book a 50-amp site if your rig needs it, pre-cool the RV before you leave for the day, and keep shades closed. April in the Coachella Valley often brings hot days and cooler nights, so pack layers along with sunscreen. Keep the rig tidy and secured against wind and dust.
A/C and 50-amp sites
A big rig running two A/C units typically needs 50-amp power. All three resorts above offer 30- and 50-amp service, but confirm your site when you book. Leave the A/C running on a moderate setting while you're out so you don't come back to an oven.
Quiet hours and generators
Resorts have quiet hours, and with full hookups you shouldn't need a generator at all. Coachella itself bans gas generators onsite, so don't plan around one.
Wind and dust
Desert wind can kick up dust in the afternoons. Close windows and roof vents when you leave, retract the awning, and stash anything that could blow away. Toiletries left on the dashboard will melt into modern art — store them inside a cabinet.
Night temperatures
Desert nights can feel chilly after a hot day, especially if you're coming back sweaty from the polo field. Pack a hoodie for the late sets and an extra blanket for the RV. RVers we talk to say a light layer and closed-toe shoes make the 2 a.m. walk to the shuttle far more pleasant.
What about Stagecoach RV camping?
Stagecoach, the country music festival held at the same venue, does allow RV camping onsite. It offers reserved RV lots with powered sites for 30- and 50-amp rigs, but festival admission is sold separately. Stagecoach 2027 runs April 23–25.
The Stagecoach resort page says "All RV Sites are powered and service both 50amp and 30amp RVs," with a 20-by-50-foot site and a 1:30 a.m. noise curfew. Portable generators aren't permitted, though factory-installed RV generators are allowed. Bring 50 to 75 feet of electrical cord to reach the power source. The 2027 Stagecoach dates are April 23–25, so if you want an RV right at the festival, this is your weekend.
