“Our favorite camping memory is when we went to take our first ever campervan, Roxanne, on a road trip out west to Yosemite National Park, San Diego, Sequoia National Park, and Death Valley National Park,” Outdoorsy owner Trevor Jones shares. “We traversed amidst a multitude of climates and really got a glimpse of the nomadic lifestyle.”

After that initial trip, Trevor was hooked on van travel. “We started with a super old 1991 van,” he tells us. “Once we got our use out of that one, we continued to upgrade.”

Trevor doesn’t just buy pre-made campervans off the lot though. No, each and every one of those upgrades was custom-made by Trevor himself to suit his ever-changing camping needs and wants. “I like to experiment with all the designs and see what I personally like best.”

As it turns out, Trevor isn’t the only one who likes his van builds. In fact, the man actually started his rental business because others loved his van so much. “We started renting our personal van solely because people asked us if they could,” Trevor explains. “We didn’t intend to make it into a full-fledged business.”

Nevertheless, a booming business was born the moment Trevor created Live More Campervans by listing his first rental van on Outdoorsy. “We had our first rental request within a couple of days of listing,” the business owner recalls. “We were shocked! That was in 2020. To date, we have made approximately $200,000 through the site.”

With those earnings, Live More Campervans has grown from a single van to a fleet of three campervans and a travel trailer. “We hope our rigs encourage others to quit yearning for possessions and instead chase experiences—to appreciate Mother Earth so we can give back to her and take better care of her, and also to give people a glimpse of what it’s like to live in a van and not a house,” Trevor tells us when asked what he hopes those three RVs do for his renters.

“We build vans for our furry friends, earthside newbies, and everyone in between,” the RV owner continues. “We have sent out families with newborns to explore our country’s beautiful landscapes, solo nomads striving to get as far away from society as possible, couples who have been in love for 40+ years that trekked to Canada, and so many others from different walks of life. Vanlife does not discriminate, and can be fulfilling to anyone seeking adventure.”

What would Trevor tell new Outdoorsy owners looking to have the same success he’s had? “Do your research, come prepared, and expect problems to happen just like within every other industry,” he says. This seems like solid advice that has gotten Live More Campervans pretty far!
