Introduction
Travel in your RV to this Oregon oasis from it all within Lincoln City at Devil's Lake State Recreation Area. Visit Oregon’s only coast campground within an urban setting. This park provides 28 full hookup campsites with satellite TV and easy access to Devil’s Lake. Uniquely situated between the Pacific Ocean and the D River, “the world's shortest river,” there are many picturesque views to take in while you are here visiting in your campervan or trailer. The campground is open year round but due to its proximity to the ocean, there are times that certain loops are flooded and inaccessible during the calendar year. Wildlife is abundant in this area as coots, ducks and even bald eagles live at this majestic state park. Get ready to have a great time out on Devil’s Lake by swimming, boating, or fishing as you take some time out in the sun. From exploring the park’s paved multi-use trails, viewing the area birds, walking on the lake’s boardwalk, this area has it all! Advance reservations are strongly encouraged, especially around the holiday weekends for this friendly freshwater retreat. Driving
Located within Lincoln City, Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area is a wonderful place to escape from it all without having to travel too far. Not far from the Portland area, you’ll find that this park is great for a weekend getaway. Take Highway 101 to head towards the park and the turnoff to the recreation area is near the outlet mall. To find the park’s campground via Google Maps, you will need to use the name of Devil's Lake State Park rather than Devil’s Lake State Recreational Area.
Parking
When you arrive at camp at Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area, you will find that the roads are well-maintain and easy to navigate. For RV camping, there are three loops available - Loops A, B, and C. During certain months of the year, the lower sites are closed due to the annual flooding of the park. Also, the campground does not offer the opportunity to camp next to the lake as none of the sites provide a lake view or access. However, the park has created a hard-surface trail that you can follow from your site to the lake to fish or enjoy time out on the water.

This great campground is very convenient for an overnight or well-deserved vacation. The well-maintained sites will provide great privacy during your stay. The campground offers 28 full-hookup sites that include cable TV and five electrical sites with water and satellite TV. Restrooms are large with flush toilets and do include secured hot showers with plenty of hot water. None of the campsites offer a view of the lake or lakefront access but the lake is only a short trail away. Additionally, there is not a boat launch from the campground but there is a location both north and south that you can access the lake. The camp offers firewood for sale as you cannot bring in firewood from other states. When making your campsite selection, you may find sites located on Loop A provide more privacy than those sites located on Loops B and C. Reservations can be made one year up in advance making camping here a breeze. Come and enjoy a quiet, peaceful place to spend your time - with no stress attached. You’ll find that once you spend a night at Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area, you’ll start planning your visit again for the next season.

In-Season
Water Sports
From kayaking to boating, spend the afternoon out on the 685-acre Devil’s Lake during your camping adventure! With plenty of parking and a boat ramp, you’ll find this beautiful lake a peaceful and restful way to spend your stay at the lake is sheltered from coastal winds. A great alternative to the ocean, this lake is a hub for all summertime activity! A great temperature for lake swimming, the area offers two different areas for visitors to swim. Beach areas are not large but provide ample access to the coastal water. Plan on taking a dip while you’re here!
Fishing
Whether you are fishing from a boat or from Oregon’s gorgeous coastline, memories are ready to be made at Devil’s Lake during your RV trip. Rainbow trout, Grass carp, Bluegill, Coho salmon, and Yellow perch are popular fish to catch in this area. The park does have a nice dock that allows for a great fishing spot as well. Pack your favorite fishing rod, bait, and a camera in your rig to capture your biggest fishing catch yet!
Taking Educational Courses
These great family-friendly educational courses are open to all and free to enjoy while you are camping at Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area. Sessions may include a scavenger hunt, the science of ice cream or more fun activities to enjoy. All equipment and supplies are provided. Call the visitors staff in advance for availability. Make plans to join park staff today for all nature play events during your stay at the park!
Off-Season
Hiking
Pack sturdy shoes, hat, sunscreen, and your bottle water before setting out on one of the two hiking trails at Devil Lake State Recreation Area. These well-maintained trails vary in difficulty. Pick up a trail map from the visitors center before you explore Oregon’s great outdoors. For an easy, leisurely walk, explore the lake’s boardwalk. Get ready to catch some breathtaking Panoramic Views of Devil’s Lake, a great way to spend your time at the park.
Birding Walks
Calling all nature lovers! For those who love to view birds of all sizes such as the Nashville warbler, American redstart, and the swamp sparrow to name a few, the songbirds and migrant perching birds are plentiful at this state recreation area. Join a park ranger on a hike through the campgrounds as you see the many bluebirds and possibly a scarlet tanager. The walk begins at the park office and check with the visitors center on the day and times when you arrive on your trip.
Wildlife
Come and see a unique area of true biodiversity with the surrounding wetlands, beach, ocean, and surrounding forest. Including many varieties of birds such as cormorants, great blue herons and more, there are also larger animals that call Devil’s Lake State Recreation Area home. Plan on packing your binoculars in your camper or trailer as you may see elk, deer, muskrats, and possibly - cougars and bears as your options are endless. From exploring the trails or lounging at your RV campsite, be ready to see the fascinating side of nature during your stay!
