Introduction
Located in a designated World Biosphere Reserve, and featuring more than 1.5 km (1 mile) of sandy beach on Lake Erie’s warm waters, with abundant bird species, Long Point Provincial Park is a must-visit destination for RV camping. Located on the northeastern shore of Lake Erie, southwest of Port Rowan, along Highway 59, Ontario, this 1.5 sq. km (0.6 sq. mi) provincial park is the fourth oldest provincial park in Ontario, having been established in 1921.
At the park, RV campers enjoy recreational opportunities such as birding, biking on 5 km (3 miles) of the park’s roads, fishing in Long Point Bay and Lake Erie, boating, canoeing, and swimming in Long Point Bay and Lake Erie, waterfowl hunting, kite boarding, and park programs.
Long Point Provincial Park offers four campgrounds, some of which are equipped with electric RV hookups, in two sections of the park. The “New Park” section includes three campgrounds: Monarch’s Rest, Firefly and Turtle Dunes Campgrounds as well as the popular Day-Use area, while the Old Park section features Cottonwood Campground.
Facilities and amenities in the park include boat launch, water taps, pit/vault toilet, playground, restroom with showers, playgrounds, docks, pay phone, fish cleaning station, garbage station, laundry facilities, dump station, recycling station, and parking lot.

Driving
Long Point Provincial Park is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Erie, southwest of Port Rowan, along Highway 59, and is easily accessible by RVs, trailers, and other motorized vehicles. Within the park, the four campgrounds and day use area are connected by local paved roads. There are no driving restrictions in the park.
Parking
A variety of parking options are available to RV campers in Long Point Provincial, since the park has 10 parking lots distributed across the campgrounds, day use area, park office, and boat launch area. Each of the campgrounds in the park has one parking lot, except Monarch’s Rest which has two. Four parking areas are available in the day use area, and the Park Office and boat launch have one parking lot each. Overnight parking is available in Long Point Provincial Park.

Monarch’s Rest Campground
Monarch’s Rest Campground in Long Point Provincial Park features 70 campsites available for RVs and tents. 31 campsites in the campground are equipped with electric hookups for RVs, while 39 campsites are not equipped with RV hookups. RV length limit at the campground is 32 feet (10 m), however RV vacationers with larger rigs can call the park ahead to find out if space is available. Amenities at the campground include water taps, pit/vault toilet, restroom with showers, laundry facility, wheelchair accessible areas, waterfront access, parking lots.

Turtle Dunes Campground
Turtle Dunes Campground is Long Point Provincial Park features 47 campsites available for RVs. 18 campsites in the campground are equipped with electric hookups for RVs, while 29 campsites are not equipped with RV hookups. RV length limit at the campground is 32 ft (10 m). Amenities at the campground include water taps, recycling station, pit/vault toilet, restroom with showers, playground, wheelchair accessible areas, parking lot, waterfront and swimming beach access.
46 campsites in the campground are reservable, while 1 campsite is available on first-come first-served basis.
Firefly Campground
Firefly Campground in Long Point Provincial Park features 54 campsites available for RVs and tents. All the campsites in the campground are equipped with electric hookups for RVs. RV length limit at the campground is 32 feet (10 m), however RV vacationers with larger rigs can call the park ahead to find out if space is available. Amenities at the campground include water taps, fire pits, picnic tables, playground, and parking lot.
53 campsites in the campground are reservable, while 1 campsite is available on first-come first-served basis.
Cottonwood Campground
Cottonwood Campground in Long Point Provincial Park features 80 campsites available for RVs and tents. 23 campsites in the campground are equipped with electric hookups for RVs, while 57 campsites are not equipped with RV hookups. RV length limit at the campground is 18 ft (6 m). Amenities at the campground include water taps, pit/vault toilet, playground, restroom with showers, playground, pay phone, garbage station, recycling station, and parking lot.
51 campsites in the campground are reservable, while 19 campsites are available on first-come first-served basis.

Off-Season
Hunting
RV campers that enjoy waterfowl hunting can get information about the activity at Long Point Provincial Park. This is because the park is the home base for the Long Point Waterfowl Management Unit (LPWMU).
Discovery Program
Long Point Provincial Park staff engage RV campers in Discovery Programs at certain times in the year, in which campers of all ages are equipped with tools and materials to explore the park, observe flora and fauna, and make discoveries about the natural features of the park.
Swimming
In Long Point Provincial Park, Monarch’s Rest Campground, Turtle Dunes Campground, the Day-Use area, and Cottonwood Campground feature large, sandy beaches that are awesome for warm water swimming. These sandy beaches make up more than 2 km (1.2 miles) of soft sand. In addition, Lake Erie also has great spots for swimming. No lifeguards are on duty at the beaches in the park.
In-Season
Boating/Canoeing
Long Point Bay offers RV campers amazing boating and canoeing opportunities while on vacation at Long Point Provincial Park. There are boat launch facilities in the park that accommodate most RV campers’ pleasure boats. The sheltered marsh of Long Point Bay serves as the perfect site for canoeing and so paddlers never miss the spot.
Birding
Over 300 different song bird and waterfowl species migrate through Long Point Provincial Park annually, offering wonderful sights for RV campers in the park. Even more, over 80 bird species nest in the park annually, making the park one of the premier bird watching destinations on the continent. With or without your binoculars, you are guaranteed a great viewing experience.
Just outside the park is the Long Point Bird Observatory, while Bird Studies Canada is located in Port Rowan.
Fishing
Excellent fishing opportunities abound in Long Point Bay in Long Point Provincial Park for RV campers who enjoy angling. The park features one of the best bass fisheries in Ontario. Lake Erie is also well-known for its abundant fish population including walleye, rainbow trout, common carp, smallmouth bass, brown trout, yellow perch, white perch, alewife, and rainbow smelt. A fishing license is required to fish in the park, and this may be purchased in Long Point village.
